Baltimore crowds celebrate tough charges against police Last
Baltimore: Residents of impoverished West Baltimore erupted in jubilation and relief Friday after authorities charged six officers in the death in custody of a young African American man.
Many had been parading through riot-scarred neighborhoods and chanting the victim`s name as security forces nervously looked on.
"Baltimore people, we did it!" shouted 18-year-old John Johnson. "Justice needs to be served!"
Cars streamed down West North Avenue in a cacophony of horns, as a man wearing a t-shirt that read "I Bleed Baltimore" thrust his fists into the air and cheered.
The community has been on edge since this week`s violent riots left several buildings in flames, stores looted, more than a dozen police officers injured and dozens of people arrested.
But residents into the streets to vent their relief at the beginning of a judicial process that could see accountability for the death of Freddie Gray in police custody.
"This is long overdue," Dexter Dillard, 47, told AFP at the corner of West North and Pennsylvania avenues, where a large pharmacy was looted and burned Monday in the worst rioting in Baltimore since the late 1960s.

It will be most interesting when trade groups deciding on conventions (they generally do this a year or two out) no longer consider Baltimore to be in the running. I would bet, dollars to donuts, that Baltimore will be stricken from many lists as the “potential problem to benefit ratio” starts to weigh down; no one wants to hold a four-day convocation in a city that is on the verge of melting. Already, four major conventions that were coming to Baltimore in the next two weeks have cancelled; cancellation can be avoided if you don’t make the commitment to go there in the first place.
What exactly is the difference between a protest riot and celebration?
And then if the Orioles win the World Series, more riots.
Now, unless the court has been rigged to find all these police men guilty, what will these animals do if they are found “NOT GUILTY”? After all, they have to prove that these officers planned to kill this PERP. Are they going after the arresting officers, the driver of the police van, or what. Shoukld the court of LAW find them NOT GUILTY, will these animals riot again?
The cops were told to stand down during the riots by the mayor. After these charges, you can bet a good many cops won’t be engaging criminals.
Interesting
They’re going to make those cops fall guys ...
Its a national action network show trial and will collapse because of it. After all, how many times to this Mosby idiot say “No Justice, no peace” while she was announcing the charges?
Mayor Hussein-Head should be overjoyed.
The “our time is now” statement should disqualify her. She has identified herself as a member of the mob.
The cops are being Nifonged.
Party hats and happy faces...
Great! Now the looters and arsonists will all come together and rebuild the stores. Businesses will flock to Baltimore. No more unemployment. /sarc
The tougher the charge, the harder to convict. Just saying.
Wonder if that is part of the plan?
'Our Time Is Now'
"Mosby is known for her slogan "our time is now," a statement that she has used since her swearing in. During her speech, WBAL reported that she said in reference to the lack of trust between law enforcement and the community, "Our time to repair that trust, to come together collectively as a community, to start to break down the barriers to progress in our communities, is now."
"Her statement has since been paraphrased by her and others, and was recently adopted by protestors since Gray's death. She now promotes on her official Twitter page #OurTimeIsNow."

They will riot no matter what the outcome. The only thing which might diminish the rioting is a lack of places to loot and burn.
The saps are being played for fools. Useful idiots. They over charged the officers on purpose, so that they would be acquitted and found not guilty. What you saps gonna do then ?
Actually, I think Mosby, Jarrett and Obama did it. /tinfoil.
It's pretty sad when you start wondering from how far up the orders came.
Maryland "Freak State" DANG!
