The six Baltimore police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray who died last month after being injured in police custody have been charged criminally, State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced Friday.
Mosby's announcement on the steps of the War Memorial Building was greeted with cheers and applause. Mosby said she told Gray's family that "no one is above the law and I would pursue justice upon their behalf."
Desmond Taylor, 29, shouted in jubilee in front of the War Memorial Building.
Mosby: Freddie Gray's death a homicide, officers charged Investigation and medical examiner reports say Freddie Gray's death a homicide. Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby will file charges against all 6 officers involved in the arrest. (Baltimore Sun) "I did not expect this, but I prayed for it," he said. "This day means that your actions bring consequences in Baltimore City."
Word traveled quickly of the charges against the officers. In West Baltimore, cars honked their horns. A man hanging out of a truck window pumped his fists and yelled; "Justice! Justice! Justice!"
At the corner where Gray was arrested, 53-year-old Willie Rooks held his hands up in peace signs and screamed, "Justice!"
Reacting to news of the charges, President Barack Obama called it "absolutely vital that the truth come out.

“...false imprisonment.”
What’s that all about?
History is about to repeat itself. 2016 = 1968.
No matter how this plays out....the mob wants a guilty verdict and will not be satisfied with anything less then what they want. So far the authorities have given them that.....Now it will play out the summer and give the black community center stage....which is what this is about.
This will also, and more importantly be the talking points for the Demorats.....the black vote was slipping....now they can talk and talk and talk about what they’re going to do for the black community...feeding their ears with the same empty promises they always make...

Among his rules for the virtual destruction of an old fashioned America is this one.
Pick the target, freeze it. personalize it, polarize it.
One could study the outrageous statistics of black on white violence. This taking into consideration the per capita ratio of whites to blacks. Nary a peep from the MSM. Yet this two or three isolated cases bring out the agitators and mindless thugs.
Alinsky dances with delight amid the flames of hell. (jmho).
Second Degree Murder: DefinitionIt's sounding more and more to me that Gray's fatal injury was caused by his neck hitting an exposed bolt in the van. I'm also guessing that the DA's justification for a 2nd-degree murder charge is that the police were operating the prisoner van in a negligent manner, when in fact Gray was thrashing around in the back of the van, accidentally landing on the bolt.Second-degree murder is ordinarily defined as: 1) an intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned, nor committed in a reasonable "heat of passion"; or 2) a killing caused by dangerous conduct and the offender's obvious lack of concern for human life. Second-degree murder may best be viewed as the middle ground between first-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.
Mob rule, I wonder how all of those union police officers feel about supporting the fascist democrat party now.
I say to hell with them, I could care less, they fund the democrats and vote for them, now they can scratch their own fleas.
Yes, and if the officers are exonerated, the 47% will never hear about it.
I'll go ahead and gather that the pros is saying the arrest was illegal.
"Homicide" simply means the death of a person. It doesn't mean murder or manslaughter.
“What about justice for everyone who lost businesses, cars and other property? Any justice for them?”
No, they don’t qualify under the new government guidelines, Justice by Affirmative Action.
Meh, its Baltimore
You were in the van with Gray and saw this? Otherwise it isn't a fact, but merely your opinion.
... all the while saying they "want the truth to come out". No matter how this turns out, the rioters/race pimps/et al., like most on the Left, are not concerned with Truth (unless, and only if, the findings agree with what they think the truth should be).
What democrats will be charged with killing Baltimore over the last
50 years?
That was fast. Too fast. They obviously had no case and were just trying to appease the street savages. The cops’ lives are already ruined.
Affirmative Action. If you think it is bad now, wait 5 years.
My guess is that the manslaughter charges were brought against the white officers. But I’d love to really know.
My understanding is that the false imprisonment charges are based on the contention that they had no legal cause to arrest him to begin with. The switchblade he supposedly was carrying was reported to be a legal knife after all.
The big questions is 'If the death occurred in the Van, than how can any of the Officers other than the Driver be charged'?
Plus the requirement for prisoners to be belted in in the Van was sent out by 'e-mail'. So not all Officers knew about the change in policy. Which happened a week before. Some would only informed at roll call and some were not.
The the matter of the leg restraints. The guy was combative and leg shackles were applied. These are a common form of restraint that goes back decades. And in no way could cause a spinal injury to the neck.
Yes I agree that EMS should have been called to look at Grey. But that is not in and of it self a precursor of Homicide. And how does a leg injury lead to a broken neck?
The other prisoner has stated (in so many reports - all of which could be wrong) that the ride to jail was smooth and not some rough ride that the Driver was giving and only Grey side of the Van could feel. And that Grey was slamming himself against the sides of the van in an attempt to injure himself. This is not that farfetched. As I've witnessed a lot of Prisoners do the same to try and convince someone that I beat them up when no injuries occurred during the arrest.
I feel that the Officers of that shit hole should just walk off the job and let fine citizens do as they please. It's only property ;)
Ed
I wouldn’t be a police officer for any amount of money. No thank you.
