BALTIMORE, Md. (WJLA) -- An investigation into the death of Baltimore resident Freddie Gray has found no evidence that his fatal injuries were caused during the videotaped arrest and interaction with police officers, according to multiple law enforcement sources.
The sources spoke to ABC7 News after being briefed on the findings of a police report turned over to prosecutors on Thursday.
Sources said the medical examiner found Gray's catastrophic injury was caused when he slammed into the back of the police transport van, apparently breaking his neck; a head injury he sustained matches a bolt in the back of the van.

wait what facts won’t matter? That the police killed this guy by rough-riding him on the way to the station, not belting him into his seat as they are required to do? That matters a great deal to me.
According to the other passenger, the ride was not rough or erratic. I think the guy was trying to injure himself and seriously over played his hand.
If I were making police policy, I think I might change the patrols so that only black officers patrolled and made arrests in black neighborhoods. It would be hard for anyone to make racism an issue with that policy in place.
“wait what facts wont matter? That the police killed this guy by rough-riding him on the way to the station, not belting him into his seat as they are required to do? That matters a great deal to me.
“
The narrative is that the cops are racists who murdered the guy solely because he was black.
If instead it was negligent homicide or manslaughter instead of a racist murder, as the facts seem to suggest, it still won’t matter. The cops will still be guilty of racist murder according to many unthinking people.
Do you understand?
There is no evidence that they he was given a rough ride. In fact, the other passenger said that the ride was not rough or erratic in any way.
The "Hands up, don't shoot" BS is still the matra. All of the perps were little angels too.
I’m donating plasma, and I laughed so hard at your post I almost disconnected the needle.
** aka The Gentle Giant - someone who'd never hurt a flea .... well, he might consider slamming an Asian store clerk a third his weight into a counter, but certainly would never hurt a flea!

I just heard on Fox News that another prisoner being transported in the same van has made a statement that Freddie Gray kept throwing himself against the wall(s) of the van, so much so that police stopped several times on the way to the district police facility. He is said to have entered the van on his own. It’s not clear whether he sustained any injury prior to entering the van, though that is certainly possible.
Is it possible he was trying to injure himself in order to sue for brutality later?
I only ask because of a “Person of Interest” story I saw on the TV. An insane guy banged his own head on a butcher table while in handcuffs, when the officer had walked to the end of the table to talk to someone. People came back in and saw what looked to be an injury at the hands of the officer.
Well, since you weren’t there and neither was I, we have to rely on facts and testimony. Bummer, isn’t it?
I haven’t heard in any report that he had a cracked skull. The medical examiners report said that he had a fracture in his neck that was consistent with a bolt in the back of the van. That fracure was deemed to be the cause of death.
Where is the evidence that the other passenger was paid to say anything?
If the medical examiners report is correct and the injury to the neck that caused his death is consistent with a bolt in the Back of the van, then the injury had to have been self inflicted. The police were not in the van when the back door was closed. The medical examiners report is consistent with the other passengers account that gray was banging himself around in the van. That passenger said he seemed to be trying to hurt himself.
I agree.
I’ll be one of two people in America that does this weird thing: wait for the facts and, if applicable, a Grand Jury and Jury to sort it out.
It’s called the “Rule of Law.” I’ve noticed a lot of folks both in Baltimore and on this site seem to have forgotten the whole Due Process thing when they have a political point to make.
Well, harumph, he should have been chained up so he couldn’t bang his head. Police Brutality, that’s what it is. They should be prosecuted for not chaining up this animal.
Of course, if they had, ...
