A prisoner who shared a ride to jail with Freddie Gray claims the 25-year-old was trying to injure himself inside a police van before he died from unexplained spinal chord injuries, according to a leaked police report.
The report was leaked to the Washington Post under the proviso that the prisoner remains anonymous - raising questions about its accuracy and the favorable light which it shines on the Baltimore police force

He had history of bad health and seizure..
The term “seizure” is often used interchangeably with “convulsion.” Convulsions occur when a person’s body shakes rapidly and uncontrollably. During convulsions, the person’s muscles contract and relax repeatedly.
If he already had a spinal injury and he was banging about in the van, that could explain some of his injuries. Still doesn’t explain the damaged neck and larynx. Still doesn’t excuse the police neglect for failing to restrain him.
The autopsy report will reveal a lot, but it won’t come out for weeks.
Explain 4 yr gap in arrest record...
Despite the source, they provide a really good discussion on knife laws. For that alone, this article is worth reading, which is why I shared. it.
“The cops violated a written procedure to use restraints during transport.”
They did not receive word of this new policy until three days before Gray was arrested. It had not been fully implemented yet.
It would take time to get access to his medical records.
I love it when Sarah talks about Freddie and Fanny.
Why does my spell checker insist that "wagon" is spelled "waggon?" Is this something new in the PC dictionary?
Broke his own spine?
Balto PD need to learn when you’re in a hole stop digging.
Your spell check must be set to British English.
Try typing neighbor or color and see what it does.
I heard he had also been involved in a Mesothelioma lawsuit from his years working in a Johns Manville plant. /s
“out-of-control police need to be held accountable for their actions or inactions.”
Factually, I see no evidence of abuse.
He was standing on the bumper of van, twisting his neck and back to yell at other citizens.
So, his spine wasn’t severed prior to getting in van.
FACT. No police were in van with him, so there is no evidence of direct police abuse or negligence.
“...said an anonymous arrestee eager to cut a deal”
The truth will change nothing.
“left lift Freddies head back onto his shoulders after the first time they pick him up.”
Absolute bullshit, newbie.
It was also written in the Washington Post...
Looks like he succeeded.
I don’t really understand what Gray’s criminal record has to do with anything. I don’t care if it was his first arrest, his 50th or his one millionth. I don’t care if he was ever convicted of any charges or if he was convicted on a hundred charges. The simple fact is that we as a society allow the police to use lethal force only under certain circumstances. Those are generally if the officer acts in self defense, if the officer acts to protect the lives of other citizens, or if such force is necessary to prevent a potentially dangerous perpetrator from escaping arrest. I am fine with all of those situations, but it seems that none of those would apply in this case. The suspect was already arrested, disarmed and restrained. It’s pretty hard to make the case that any level of force would be appropriate, let alone lethal force. I fail to see why his prior record is relevant. If the police caused his death, they should be punished regardless of the rap sheet. We don’t allow police to kill people just because they’ve been convicted of crimes in the past.
