My county estimates there are 700,000 feral cats in the county. Thats with a 70-80% mortality rate due to disease and predators.

They are diseased nasty creatures. Many of which have been released by ‘responsible’ pet owners who had them de-clawed before letting them go.

I’d like to see her on the end of a harpoon.

Oh well, America 2015. A guy used to have a moral compass that would have put this in perspective, shrugged, and got on with improving his family’s quality of life.

I hate to say this, but I’m developing an unhealthy attitude about female vets.

The only negative experiences I’ve had have been with younger females, they are dominating the field, and in the past few years, every time I go to a larger facility, there’s sure to be at least one buzz-cut butch vet or tech. One specialty place I went to, they were all that way.

I’m not saying that women can’t be good vets. But, I just have a sick feeling that a lesbian mafia is dominating the field. Again, I hate to say it. But, I feel that way.

If it was a wild cat, I don’t care much. But it looks like it was someone’s beloved pet. I wish her the worst if that’s the case.

OK, people need to read an entire article before commenting on a thread. People are trying to defend this woman saying “It’s just a dead feral cat.” It wasn’t a feral cat. It was a cat named Tiger that belonged to a neighbor down the street from her. Feral cats are mangy and skinny, this cat was not. Another thing, feral cats are scared to death of people. They will run away long before you see them most of the time. You can trap them easy enough, but shooting one with a bow and arrow would actually be a little difficult. The cat she killed was probably just lounging under a bush when she shot it. This is not OK. People who defend this kind of action are missing a chromosome somewhere.

Most mass murderers start out this way; mutilating, torturing and killing innocent animals.

I was adopted by 4 kittens born in the milkhouse last July. Their mother was one of the neighbor's outside unfixed females... basically a feral mother cat that had it's first litter and abandoned them at 2 days old.

I am a "cat guy" and still, I have mixed feeling about this article. There are "probably" far better options, but at some point, there is a cat population problem... I saw it first hand with the place I used to work where a coworker took to feeding the strays... which kept breeding and breeding more and more kittens... because there was an "endless" supply of food.

All I can really offer is that if you are going to care for an outside cat, do the world a favor and have it spayed or neutered so maybe your neighbor doesn't shoot it.

I shoot feral cats often enough. I don’t want them predating on my chickens and I don’t want them fighting with and injuring our barn cats.

I should note that the feral cats I don’t shoot tend to get killed by the hawks, coyotes, wolves, owls, foxes, and our dogs.

And, no. I am not interested in trapping them and taking them 40 miles into town so the animal control can do what I can do just as easily without leaving home.

That people are getting bent out of shape about this is just ridiculous. Outside cat with no tags, no collar (as evidenced in the picture) is a stray/feral cat. If it belonged to someone that loved it so much, they should have kept it on their property by whatever means necessary. For a cat that probably means keeping them inside.
I have had my dogs catch a stray (on our property) and play tug of war with it. Didn’t kill the cat straight out and we were forced to put it down. In the process of fighting for its life it bit one of the dogs and the bite got infected. Then, the little gift kept on giving, it had kittens that were left abandoned. Well the coyotes can get them or some equal horrible end, or they can be shot. The local cat rescue would not take them, plus I had to endure an earful for BS when I made the mistake of saying my dogs had caught the mother cat.
Bottom line, her property, her discretion to take care of an issue as she sees fit.

This cat looks non-ferule and this lady looks like a kid.

Having said that, life for ferule cats is a misery. I would rather see them put down then suffer. These are domestic animals and yes, they can live without people but should not. At lunch today I saw a few cared for out side cats. They were adorable and I wish I could take them but my house is full(both cats and dogs). I know these cats have someone that feeds them regularly but they should not be where they are either. And that is life a mixed bag of wonderful and such sadness. Yeah I am faky about pets. Flaky city......LOL

Big bad hunter kills a cat in her backyard. She’s awesome. Needs a swift kick in the back of her can. She knew the cat was not feral. Read some responses from other Vets and they all want her licensed pulled and a lifetime ban from practicing. She has no business being a vet and the only place she may work will be a low-life establishment where miss awesome belongs.

I dont’ get animal nuts. There’s no problem with animals shelters killing millions of animals a year. But boy, let someone kill a trublesome animal around their house and the crap hits the fan.
