Facebook Is Not Letting the Story of the Vet Who Killed a Cat With a Bow and Arrow Go
Texas Monthly ^ | April 22, 2015 | Dan Solomon

By now, you’ve probably heard of Kristen Lindsey. She’s the veterinarian from Brenham who’s given more bad press to the state than Blue Bell after she posted a picture on Facebook of herself, smiling and holding an arrow with a dead cat on the end of it:

So what if some broad shoots a cat? Are people so petrified by a little blood and guts? What happens with road kill (blood and guts)...at the butcher shop...It’s pathetic! Now if she shot and ate the cat...yeah...that would be f-ed up. By the way...when I was in the Ukraine they sold skinned cats at the market. Why aren’t these people protesting that? Oh yeah...Maybe because it isn’t on stupid Facebook?

We don’t have a feral cat or feral dog problem here.
Coyotes eat them.

Not really. If they are in a populated neighborhood they will find plenty of scraps and other pet cats food dishes. They will terrorize the tame pet cats and sometimes will even challenge humans. This cat may at one time have “Belonged” to someone else but that does not mean he wasn’t feral. I understand he was also a Tom Cat. He could just as easily been the neighborhood cat terrorist.

I’ll never understand the mentality that elevates animals equal to or above humans — the vindictive mentality that expresses concern for animals, but is silent or favorable on abortion, and disregards due process of law for the alleged perps.

If it was a wild cat, I don’t care much. But it looks like it was someone’s beloved pet. I wish her the worst if that’s the case.

OK, people need to read an entire article before commenting on a thread. People are trying to defend this woman saying “It’s just a dead feral cat.” It wasn’t a feral cat. It was a cat named Tiger that belonged to a neighbor down the street from her. Feral cats are mangy and skinny, this cat was not. Another thing, feral cats are scared to death of people. They will run away long before you see them most of the time. You can trap them easy enough, but shooting one with a bow and arrow would actually be a little difficult. The cat she killed was probably just lounging under a bush when she shot it. This is not OK. People who defend this kind of action are missing a chromosome somewhere.

Wow, its not always easy to tell the condition of a cat as it sneaks through the brush on its way to go kill something. Many times its birds they kill. To the point where they will destroy the bird population in areas where the cats are out of control.

Perhaps they shoulda kept their cat indoors. Ya know that way its not in danger from other predators and making messes on neighbors patios.

Most mass murderers start out this way; mutilating, torturing and killing innocent animals.

The people on this thread are pro-life, and believe in law.

So I don’t understand your post.

I was adopted by 4 kittens born in the milkhouse last July. Their mother was one of the neighbor's outside unfixed females... basically a feral mother cat that had it's first litter and abandoned them at 2 days old.

I am a "cat guy" and still, I have mixed feeling about this article. There are "probably" far better options, but at some point, there is a cat population problem... I saw it first hand with the place I used to work where a coworker took to feeding the strays... which kept breeding and breeding more and more kittens... because there was an "endless" supply of food.

All I can really offer is that if you are going to care for an outside cat, do the world a favor and have it spayed or neutered so maybe your neighbor doesn't shoot it.

We have a few of those here but they have trouble competing with the panthers and bobcats.

We also have feral hogs. Now those are a mess.

Did she go into the peoples house?

I’d suggest people control their damn pets.

I think she was, essentially, on the end of a harpoon.

That’s what pissed some people off.

I use a gun.

I am pretty well convinced that only 10-15% of those in the medical or care providing industry are good people. 85-90% of them are subclinical sociopaths that want an easy means to abusing, harming, or exacting some twisted domination/control over the weak, sick, dying, or disabled.

A veterinarian should be able to tell the difference between Tiger the kitty, and a wild, feral cat, or as you describe them “They are diseased nasty creatures.”, especially when she is walking up to it close enough to shoot it in the head with her bow and arrow, to get her first kill and at her home.

She wasn’t on Safari, in Borneo.
