We e still have a week to go, but its already clear that the Most Valuable Player of the Month will be Carly Fiorina. She wins the award because she has done what nobody else has thought to do or, more likely, had the nerve to do. She has said in a loud, clear voice that the Empress has no clothes.
Carly notes that, while the Empress Hillary went to fancy schools, ran expensive campaigns, held high political office, signed her name to multiple autobiographies, generated Kardashian levels of personal publicity and became Romney-rich while serving some never-quite-identified public interest, she hasnt actually accomplished anything. Carly has uttered an inconvenient truth, you might say.
For performing this public service, Carly got a taste of how the Clinton oppo-team responds to even unexceptionable criticism. It returns fire disproportionately. Just this morning, I found five hit pieces on the Internet, all of them noting with the predictability of a drill team that Carly Fiorina was fired from her last corporate job. The clear implication: Carly Fiorinas reputation as a successful businesswoman is a myth.
Perhaps this is a teachable moment.
Heres what happened. After graduating from college, Carly got a job as a receptionist in a small real estate office. Over the next twenty years, she worked hard, learned new skills, took risks, lost sleep and finally won herself a division-level job in big-time corporate America. How often does that happen? I dont know, but the answer is somewhere between never and not often.
But Carly wasnt finished, not by a long shot. In her division job, and later in a corporate sales job at ATT and its tech spinoff, Lucent she found herself in a particularly unforgiving environment. In those kinds of jobs, you either make your numbers

“...Carly would be good as Sec of Commerce in the Cruz/Walker administration.”
Let’s be serious. Fiorina is on the team working to make sure neither of those two get the nomination.
I worked for HP for 34 years as an engineer. I would challenge any HP employe of that time to say anything other than she was a disaster.
Me thinks she won’t be getting any support from them... She had travel with 5 armed bodyguards. Even within a HP facility...
“True... Carly would be good as Sec of Commerce in the Cruz/Walker administration.”
Nope... Unless you wanted ‘commerce’ to be screwed up... She’s not a good choice for anything.
“An easy win in CA against Boxer? Are you kidding?”
Exactly that was a sacrificial lamb position, a suicide mission.
But, there was one reason to do it, which would be to run this time for the now open seat.
Fiorina’s best chance to win that would be In 2016, if she were serious.
Mysteriously, instead she is running for President as Queen of GOPe.
“I give Carly credit for at least working her way up to her level of incompetence at HP.”
She didn’t work her way to the top at HP. Her first job at HP was CEO. She was at Lucent technologies and that was a disaster, she came to HP for a repeat performance.
HP hired her knowing what she did at Lucent, so arguably she’d reached her level of incompetence at Lucent and HP foolishly thought they would get a different result. In any case, she at least worked her way up the ladder until that point and didn’t get things handed to her the way Hillary did.
I agree. I sure don’t want her as president, but she does serve a purpose - and I hope she pours it on the Hildebeast thick and heavy. No one can accuse her of sexism.
FK the Krinton’s.
I’ve been fired and it wasn’t for performance either. In fact, being fired inspired me to do a few things I hadn’t done before and the other jackass who fired me? Uhhh, he lost his job and after calling me to ask for reference I replied “You knew I was a Type-A, Your top producer and all your reps looked to me for leadership. Then you went on some asinine reverse racist tirade that would have been amusing in the 1930’s, proclaimed I was the smartest guy in the room and spent 6 weeks trying to find a way to fire me.
Why? Because you thought I could do your job, which I could have, if I ever wanted it and since I would never apply to sit in your pitiful chair and take a cut in pay, your job is safe and I will be of service where you need me.
You felt threatened and insisted on inventing things like I was late to meetings or missed them entirely. Two things: Late is a four letter word with me and the security card I swiped to get into buildings showed that I was not only early for these meetings but, I frequently stayed late to assist those you couldn’t.
You finally succeeded and come groveling to me? Man, you all kinda stoopet.
Mistake my kindness for weakness or just trying to take advantage of me?
I grew with 5 other competitors and I don’t forget nothing, cuz payback is always a convenience I rarely have to act on.”
Didn’t help him, he lost his job and after I dropped a few words with colleagues in the industry, he couldn’t get another job in the industry.
Oh yeah...amazingly he lost his house too. Guy is a loser, an intellectual waif and a complete jack ass...
Too bad, so sad, bye bye.
He hurt plenty of other people who worked under him but, I’m not a victim. The game just keeps going.
doesn’t bother me one bit, he took a job at Best Buy either...
People get fired all the time and sometimes when they spend 20 years getting to the top, Shiite happens...
Buying Compaq was idiotic and completely not an accretive acquisition, because it merely eliminates a competitor, while doing almost nothing for your market share.
Wasn’t completely bad though and HP was doing fine in many other divisions.
While Carly can strike at Hillary and undermine her, removing the sexist charge, I don’t like misogynistic remarks either.
That’s wrong and being wrong is fer women...
She hasn’t denied it...
” I would challenge any HP employe of that time to say anything other than she was a disaster.”
HP employees of my acquaintance usually wanted to get pitchforks and a noose whenever Carly’s name came up.
I’ll chime in here.
Carly wasn’t going to beat Boxer. She had the support of Feinstein and Pelosi.
They are powerful women and bring to bear quite a bit of resources if one of their own needs help.
Look at her nephew, Gavin Newsom. Don’t think he’ll be governor? And that hottie Kamila?
They are in like flint.
Well, he’s middle aged for sure but, he’s never denied being a white guy...
This article is a bit misleading. Fiorina wasn’t just a receptionist who worked her way up. She had an extraordinary education at Stanford and another extraordinary school, but I have forgotten which one. Harvard?
That being said, I think Hillary was fired from the Watergate Committee, wasn’t she?
Didn’t Obama transfer the taking of the federal census so that the White House would for the first time have control of the process and the numbers?
Engineer here for that much or more also. To me, the best of HP was always their instrumentation division. Their crowning breakthrough with the HP8510 was the instrument that fueled so, so many advancements.
The worst of HP was when they sold all that off to Agilent, mass produced Inkjets for next to nothing (sold them for nothing, too), and went for laptops and cheap consumer desktops.
I think the overall goal of the whole think was to get rich off ink cartridge sales, myself. Was this her work?
“True... Carly would be good as Sec of Commerce in the Cruz/Walker administration.”
There should be no Secretary of Commerce position in a conservative administration. The department, as well as the departments of Labor, HUD, Agriculture, Transportation, Education, as well as most of HHS and Homeland Security should be disbanded.
Like/Support Carly Fiorina or not, one thing must be said.....

THIS Is One Hell Of A Speech.
I didn't know Carly was on that committee.
True...
