The Johns Hopkins Chick-fil-A Ban and the Coming Gay-Marriage Witch Hunt
National Review ^ | 04/22/2015 | ANDREW GUERNSEY

Posted on 04/25/2015 8:01:12 PM PDT by Republican Wildcat

A new spirit of intolerance has arisen on the Johns Hopkins University campus, and conservative Christians are the targets. The JHU student government’s vote this week to ban any hypothetical future Chick-fil-A outlet from campus because of the company owner’s support for traditional marriage, coming on the heels of the JHU Spring Fair’s censorship of a pro-life fetal-model display as “disturbing” and “triggering,” sends a clear message that students who disagree with liberal orthodoxy are not welcome on the Hopkins campus. The student government’s vote went beyond merely expressing support for same-sex marriage. The Chick-fil-A ban seeks to introduce unprecedented discrimination against companies owned by religious conservatives into the university’s contracting policies, even though only a few years ago, prominent liberals like Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama had held the same views on marriage. In banning Chick-fil-A from campus for “homophobia,” the JHU student government is only a short step from similarly giving the boot to socially conservative Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Orthodox, and Jewish student groups from campus, as we have seen happen at Vanderbilt University, the 23 campuses of California State University, and others throughout the country. Whatever your opinion on same-sex marriage, the JHU student government’s idea that the mere presence of Chick-fil-A on campus would promote “homophobia” and amount to discrimination against the LGBT community is absurd. This view is premised, first of all, on the assumption that advocates of traditional marriage are devoid of rational argument and inspired only by hatred, and second, on the notion that allowing a company owned by someone who supports traditional marriage to operate on campus is equivalent to endorsing that support. Such a narrow-minded view is possible only because JHU, like so many other colleges, has become dominated by an intolerant strain of liberalism that is intent...

Muslims and Communists will be exempt from the antigay policy.

Time for conservative students to sue these universities, that receive Federal funding, for violating their civil rights. The cost, publicity and the damages would be a factor in checking these left wing thugs.

With reasonable exceptions, private businesses and institutions can basically do what they want to do.

The problem, imo, is that many private Christian establishments probably don’t know the Constitution, particularly Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, a short paragraph, well enough to protect themselves from unconstitutional legal attacks by low-information pro-gay activist state and government officials including judges.

an incredible chapter from history. and horrifying.
I think the one difference is there are a lot more Christians in America than Jews in Germany at the time. And a lot of them are armed to the teeth.
But terrifyingly, anything is possible.

I’ve seen how “private businesses can do what they want” with the successful suits and closures of Christian businesses which declined to participate in specifically sodomite “celebrations”.

Christian bakeries should make it a policy that everything they bake will come with the applicable Bible verses describing God’s enmity to sodomy, somewhere on the goods. Everything. Then the sodomites can’t say they’re discriminating, because everyone gets it. All Christian businesses should find a way to do this, apply these verses, and in some permanent way, to the goods they sell. Photographers could have it on the backs of all the pictures, or something like that (i’m sure that’s not the best place, but someone with a better vision than mine could find a way to apply this principle). Christian bed-and-breakfast could have it prominently displayed at all times in the lobbies or at the desk. My ideas are not the best ones, but someone could make this work.

I say we feed the JHU student government to ISIS.

And get it on tape.

At 5 bucks a throw, we'd make millions...

There should be some process by which activists can have their eligibility for federal funds and student loans removed.

I don’t see Christian businesses mentioning Section 1 of the 14th Amendment in their defense. And in this age of law school indoctrination, I wouldn’t be surprised if the legal counsel that they may be working with doesn’t know it either.

They are hitting small Christian businesses whose owners probably don’t have the resources to get the best defense, or the best advice. They left Chik-Fil-A alone, for the time being, until they have set enough precedent to attack businesses of that size, and there aren’t many of them anyway, which openly don’t support the sodomite agenda. We see now that they’re going to push against Chik-Fil-A-they are apparently feeling it’s getting time to take them on. What other business of comparable size has taken a public Biblical stance against the sodomites?

If Christian business owners were to get themselves up to speed with a few references associated with Section 1 of the 14th Amendment then they could get legal counsel up to speed; situation is a little bit bass ackwards. Constitutional protections are no more difficult to learn, imo, than a child’s board game.

“3. The Constitution was written to be understood by the voters; its words and phrases were used in their normal and ordinary as distinguished from technical meaning; where the intention is clear, there is no room for construction and no excuse for interpolation or addition.” —United States v. Sprague, 1931.

The irony is that Johns Hopkins University is banning a restaurant that had no plans to build there and whose founder is now dead, yet Johns Hopkins University HOSPITAL no longer performs transgender operations. Though many of their patients were satisfied with their surgery, they continued to have mental and emotional issues and still committed suicide 4x more than the rest of the population. The doctors could find, therefore, no good reason to continue to lop off perfectly healthy and functioning organs if it was not going to “fix” their patients’ “ issues” and stopped doing the surgeries.

Since the university is so supportive of homosexuals, I assume they will ban Islam and Muslims from campus? No? Well, I’m shocked, I tell you. /s
