Sen. Ted Cruz promises a bold shift in U.S. foreign policy if he's elected president that would cancel President Obama's arms deal with Iran and move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
On the eve of remarks to the Republican Jewish Coalition, the White House contender laid out bullet points for his approach to the Middle East in an interview with the Washington Examiner that would sharply rebuke Obama's eight years. Cruz's call to get tough with enemies of the United States, especially Tehran, and prioritize relationships with key allies like Israel should go over well with the 800 coalition members gathered in Sin City for the group's annual spring meeting.
"The most pressing national security concern for the next president in January 2017 is going to be to deal with an Iran that will likely be on the cusp of acquiring nuclear weapons because this deal that the president has negotiated will in my opinion only accelerate Iran's move toward nuclear weapons," Cruz said Friday afternoon during a 20 minute discussion in the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental hotel, just off the Las Vegas strip...
Cruz said the U.S. would not be bound under his presidency to the accord Obama and world powers are negotiating with Iran, if it fails to win approval in Congress. Asked directly if he would cancel it or pull the U.S. out of this framework, Cruz responded flatly: "Yes." (snip)
Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have been engaging in open rhetorical warfare with each other To send an unambiguous signal of the U.S. reaffirming its historic relationship with Israel and priority of the Jewish state as a key ally in the Middle East, Cruz said he would immediately order the American embassy moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,

In that interview, he said he will limit legal immigration, EXCEPT, "as the economy improves, of course, we can look at the ways to open the doors to MORE immigration."
So conceivably, if the economy improves by Jan. 2017, a president Walker will look to open the doors to immigration.
Sen. Cruz was justified and right in calling Gov. Walker out on this issue. Gov. Walker is merely demagoging immigration policy as a trap for the gullible.
Agree with his stance on issues or not, Sen. Cruz is not playing with anyone-- he means what he says.
I will write in Ted Cruz,
and will not vote for anyone
else in the accursed GOP.
Go, Cruz, GO!!
Well met.
It’s why I couldn’t click on the link and watch it
Lukewarm ness at this time makes me physically sick
Thanks for the synopsis I asked someone for earlier
‘...So conceivably, if the economy improves by Jan. 2017, a president Walker will look to open the doors to immigration...’
Of course
Any politician accepting the usual donations from the stronger than ever corporatist a will certainly turn around on jam 21. It’s whom they work for
They HAVE to think outside the box or they’ll be just like the formerly and ever predictable boehner McConnell a la winter (jan) 2015
Yes and yes! Cruz was never our candidate but for all his positives Rand just is unconvincing on defense and international relations To us, anyway, he seems to go up and down like a yoyo on these vital issues Cruz has been scoring 99 percent on our radar across the board including economics and “social” or morals matters. We’re sending him a contribution now!
You go, Ted, bearing in mind that Israel and her concerns rates just below used food in the minds of American Jewish voters. IOW, don’t expect much bang for that buck.
Yes, yes, YES!!!
Ted Cruz is the ONLY Republican candidate who is STANDING UP for what is right.
No wonder the GOPe hates him and his supporters so much.
It’s not boehner, McConnell graham McCain etc. sure it’s their weakness of character. But it’s the system the corporate money to whom they owe their positions. They expect us to understand and they don’t, they’re not forthcoming
So laker will or would likely follow. Where does his money come from?
The rest of the field wants to be the president to manage the decline. Ted Cruz wants to reverse it.
Amen to that . Hillary is cursing Jerusalem. Ted knows that GOD gave it as Israels capitol. Don’t mess with the Holy Oe or judgment will follow and has and will get worse if we dont turn back to Him!

I agree. Before Cruz was a candidate, I said, “I will not vote for anyone else; if he’s not on the ballot, I will write his name in.”
I love the smell of exploding Ghutras. Cruz to Freedom!
I can think of one optimal location for an American Embassy there. It sits on top of a hill, has a commanding view of the surroundings, and at present has a lot of bricks topped by a bright dome (suitable for disassembly and a salvage sale at a partial return on investment).
If President Cruz moves the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, will the muzzies hate us any more than they do? Can hatred already white-hot be stoked even hotter?
There are 350 million Arabs vs six million Jews in Israel. The Jewish state is about to enter its 68th year of existence. Surely God is with those who call upon His name.
And don’t forget Genesis chapter 12, verse 3.
Right on, Senator Cruz!
I will write Cruz in , also. Hopefully, he will be at the top of the ballot. If he gets screwed over by the Pubbies, I wish he would run third party.
The statement he makes about immigration at about 3:50 minutes in is what you quoted. I see a whole lot of wiggle room and believe he is just throwing out perceptions for this certain moment in battling poll numbers with Cruz, he has not set a polished policy on immigration. This is simply twisting for the polls in my book, words for the moment.
