NEW YORK - Marco Rubio, the youthful Republican presidential hopeful who touts himself as the candidate of his party's future, has been making moves to court a socially liberal faction of his party that represents gay conservatives.
The Florida senator's staff have held quarterly meetings with the Log Cabin Republicans "going back some time", their executive director, Gregory Angelo, told Reuters. The meetings with the advocacy group were to discuss legislation, issues and opportunities to "partner on," Angelo said. Rubio's office declined to comment on the meetings.
The discussions highlight the tricky electoral math for Republican presidential aspirants like Rubio.
The Republican party will struggle to win the White House in 2016 if it relies only on the support of socially conservative voters....

Why alienate a very large majority of the base in order to pander to an insignificant fraction of a percentage point of the vote that has shown itself to be hateful towards and intolerant of the rest?
Who cares about the duplicitous Amnesty supporting Rubio, anyhow? “Reaching out” to gay Republicans? Hell, he’s been screwing conservative Republicans for some time without the courtesy of a “reach around”.
I want nothing to do with Rubio and his back-stabbing.
both of them ?
The Log Cabin Republicans are a bunch of RINOs.
There are gay Republicans who are conservative and patriots but I doubt they hang out with the wimpy queers at Log Cabin GOP.
I think the globalists want Rubio as Jeb Bushes VP.
Lotsa Mehhhicccans and all the gays—BUT WILL IT BE ENOUGH??
Inquiring minds want to know.
Does anyone remember that Rubio came out against the much vilified (and much needed) Arizona immigration law?
Well it is the Republicans turn, so
Rafael Cruz (R)
Piyush Jindal (R)
Marco Rubio (R)
I guess that is what you do if you are into identity politics. But when you go that route with the homosexual lobby, then you have granted them a certain legitimacy.
And, bottom line, mainlining sexual perversion is their reason for being. And THAT is what they want to talk about, whether Rubio realizes it or not.
Behooves.
And Jeb is the stalking for horse for whatever Democrat.
Not really. I know a several homosexual conservatives. They are not public of professional homosexuals, however. They are free market believers who understand that while they are homosexual, the Judaeo Christian character of the society is what keeps it functioning and makes that free market work.
Listening isn’t necessarily agreeing with. Further, it is up to the voters to determine legitimacy. The politician makes these calculations and takes his chances.
In the end, the media has already decided gays’ legitimacy and it is their AGW Settled Science equivalent. That won’t help Rubio because real conservatives know what they feel and believe. He will harm his campaign all the more because of this.
Does no one ever take notice of how few in number the homosexuals are, and how many in number are the Christians?
Is there an actual quote or concrete action he has taken to pander to the homosexual lobby in the republican party?
Otherwise, the article is simply FUD.
(And I have no interest whatsoever in Rubio as a candidate for President. He has previously disqualified himself from my support.)
of the race after not winning a single primary, he can appear on "Dancing With The Stars."
Exactly.
I have been very surprised that both Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio have tacked toward the Christy-Romney-McCain positions. Two Florida republicans, elected on conservative platforms in their home state, shift left. I would have figured one would go left of center and the other would stick around home plate, but not both go left.
I don’t know how the media declares this guy to be in the top 3 of GOP candidates. He’s a gaffe machine, pissing off the base and he’s one debate away from getting his ass handed to him. Maybe the MSM would have us believe other wise, but I still think it’s going to be a Cruz/Walker race.
Thanks. It’s hard to type on a cellphone.
Can’t believe I actually considered him...oh well, moving on...
