Sen. Ted Cruz now claims he misspoke when he told potential New Hampshire voters that he has been pressing Sen. John McCain to hold hearings on whether service members can carry concealed weapons on military bases.
Now, I will acknowledge, I may have misspoken in New Hampshire when I said that I had been pressing John McCain, and what I had been pressing was the Armed Services Committee, Cruz said in an interview Tuesday on Fox News.

John McCain is the new chairman of it, so I sent a letter to the previous chairman, Cruz said.
On Sunday, Cruz told a gathering in Litchfield, New Hampshire, that he had spoken with McCain on the issue of denying our soldiers the ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
When asked, McCain said the comments came as a complete surprise and suggested that he may have communicated his mission through some medium Im not familiar with.
Maybe it was through, you know, hand telegraph. Maybe it was sign language, McCain said.
During his interview Tuesday, Cruz called McCains response voluble and said the Arizona senator can always be counted on for a good quote. Cruz, who is running for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, said he has raised the issue repeatedly in open hearings where he believes McCain was present.
I had not communicated [these policies] to John directly, although I had at a hearing and will continue to raise it with John McCain because the committee ought to look at and listen to the militarys arguments, Cruz said.
Im a big believer in defending Second Amendment rights of everyone including our soldiers, he continued.
After the interview, McCain took to Twitter to offer a short note.
Ted Cruz is a friend and valued member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, McCain said.
“...with all due respect, McCain could not be acting more like a douchebag. “
Sounds like what I hear a lot around here, in Tennessee. “Bless her/his heart” is bandied about quite a bit!
Only one SC, of course. ;)
I figured anyone on this site that doesn’t want a true conservative candidate would pick on my spelling error.
” Cruz is a NERD legal scholarly type with zero experience as boss of anything. He is lot like a Gen named Dempsey”
LMAO!
If ever 2 men were polar opposites, it is Cruz & this whore Dempsey.
Well, you have an excellent memory, because David Weigel at Bloomberg has the tape— Sen. Cruz didn’t say it.
John McCain’s Fake Fight With Ted Cruz Over Guns on Military Bases
Article- “The salvo that turned out to be a misfire.”
Lincoln did not follow Obama.
A rifle company CO from Iraq or Afghan is more qualified then Cruz. Frankly Perry is the one who put the NG on the border. He showed he is a real leader.
They are both funny in the jobs they are in I agree.
The Supreme Court means very little as one is not dealing with life or death like decisions like a Pres makes when he decides to attack X or defend Y are.
And I can not follow your thinking.
So true. McStain frequently exhibits the signs of senile dementia. And that’s the least of his foibles. Poor judgement and lack of integrity being in the forfront.
that article was confusing- Did Ted say he misspoke or not? If he hadn’t called on McCain, then why would he be saying he misspoke now?
Not that any of this is even relevant- Our country is going down the crapper, and the msm obsesses over who might have ‘mispoke’?
“You could say the very same thing about Abraham Lincoln.”
BAM!! that’s gonna leave a mark.
At both #7 and #17, you have cut to the chase on both trails of thought.
Muck Cane is history, Lumper. Let it go. He is now a hammerhead for testosterone and verbosity, with no intellect in sight. That is exactly what he despises about Ted Cruz, because Ted had the old maverick’s number from the beginning.
No, Lincoln followed James Buchanan. Care to try again?
We are in end times now and we do not have time for a youngster’s bravado who just tried to prove he could tackle the entire Republican party when he received all of 1-2 votes for speaker. Cruz is a hot head who might just run as an Independent throwing Hillary or the DEMS the WH again. We cannot afford a person who is not out to work as a team player. Yes, the Republican party has to get back to right of center, but; it has to be done from within.
That young whipper-snapper beat the pants off the establishment candidate David Dewhurst (57 to 43) when he ran for Texas Senate.
And the GOPe is crapping their pants.
TY for the history lesson. And he was a Congressman in 1847 almost 14 years before being Pres.
What does that tell you?
A president should be able to make firm, Constitutional decisions, not be a center-right frat boy.
A Congressman you say? That’s an impressive leadership role making life and death decisions isn’t it? A boss of, well, his staff. You’ve really knocked this point out of the park!!! lol
Time to turn the old gray mare out to pasture.
