Sen. Ted Cruz now claims he misspoke when he told potential New Hampshire voters that he has been pressing Sen. John McCain to hold hearings on whether service members can carry concealed weapons on military bases.
Now, I will acknowledge, I may have misspoken in New Hampshire when I said that I had been pressing John McCain, and what I had been pressing was the Armed Services Committee, Cruz said in an interview Tuesday on Fox News.

John McCain is the new chairman of it, so I sent a letter to the previous chairman, Cruz said.
On Sunday, Cruz told a gathering in Litchfield, New Hampshire, that he had spoken with McCain on the issue of denying our soldiers the ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
When asked, McCain said the comments came as a complete surprise and suggested that he may have communicated his mission through some medium Im not familiar with.
Maybe it was through, you know, hand telegraph. Maybe it was sign language, McCain said.
During his interview Tuesday, Cruz called McCains response voluble and said the Arizona senator can always be counted on for a good quote. Cruz, who is running for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, said he has raised the issue repeatedly in open hearings where he believes McCain was present.
I had not communicated [these policies] to John directly, although I had at a hearing and will continue to raise it with John McCain because the committee ought to look at and listen to the militarys arguments, Cruz said.
Im a big believer in defending Second Amendment rights of everyone including our soldiers, he continued.
After the interview, McCain took to Twitter to offer a short note.
Ted Cruz is a friend and valued member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, McCain said.
[[Maybe it was sign language, ]]
You bet it was- read between the lines!
Consider yourself notified, McStain. Now, what are you going to do about it, besides play word games?
Does john McCain think it’s a joke that some people can’t speak or hear and need to use sign language to communicate? How offensive!
I know Cruz must regret that statement where he named McCain, rather than the Armed Services Committee Chairman at the time. Because it is a certainty that McCain already despises the clout and nerve of Ted Cruz.
Cruz has stepped on the little maverick’s bad arch on a number of occasions and it’s drawn ire from Muck Cane.
McCain carries the air of an entitled member of the elite and it is way past time for him to step aside.
Because these others have spent a considerable amount of time perfecting their craftiness, when someone walks in with principles like Ted Cruz, he out shines them all.
Ted points out with his words how naked they really are.
Was the whole purpose of this interview to play “Gotcha, Ted?”
Me thinks McCain doth protest too much!
Amen.
Glad Ted and John cleared that up.
John McCain shouldn’t be chairman of anything. It’s clear he’s lost his marbles.
Cruz is a NERD legal scholarly type with zero experience as boss of anything. He is lot like a Gen named Dempsey who has never earned a CIB (Combat Infantryman’s Badge) commanding troops in combat. REMF’s are REMF’s whether military or senators who have never governed.
At first, I thought this would reflect badly on Cruz, but after reading it, it reflects badly on McCain. Cruz needs to write down any meetings with McCain and what came up. McCain can’t be trusted. Evidently, everything has to be in writing before McCain will admit to anything. McCain was able to get our of the Keating Five trouble, because they couldn’t prove what he knew and when he knew it.
Anyway, it's a tempest in a teapot, and, with all due respect, McCain could not be acting more like a douchebag.
You could say the very same thing about Abraham Lincoln.
Well, as Texas Solicitor General, he ran an organization of several thousand, and he has successfully argued First Amendment cases before SCOTUS.
Plus he PO'd McCain.
And he's consistent on all positions of import.
So all of that must count for something.
Now, I will acknowledge, I may have misspoken in New Hampshire when I said that I had been pressing John McCain, and what I had been pressing was the Armed Services Committee, Cruz said in an interview Tuesday on Fox News.

Perfectly understandable.
McAmnesty is just a jerk. And obviously hates real conservatives - they make him seem wussy.
Having argued successfully in front of the Supreme Courts shows he knows the Constitution - that’s more than I can say more most of our politicians.
He’s ran an office numbering in the thousands - if that’s not being a ‘boss’, what is?
And he’s a solid conservative that has not been wishy-washy.
That’s more than we can say for any candidate we’ve had since Reagan.
