This Season of Unreason will end with the elections of November 2016, but its consequences validation of the idea that belief without evidence is a virtue, that religion, and especially Christianity, deserves a place in our politics, our Constitutionally enshrined secularism notwithstanding will live on and damage the progressive cause.
But it does not have to be this way.
There will almost certainly be no (declared) atheist or even agnostic among the candidates. This is scandalous, given the electorates gradual, relentless ditching of religion. A survey just out shows that 7.5 million Americans have abandoned their faith since 2012, the year of the Pew Research Center poll that established that one out of five have no religious affiliation. Nonbelief is trending, and among a sizable, growing demographic.
~snip~ With the dapper Florida Sen. Marco Rubio we move into the more disturbing category of Republicans we might charitably diagnose as faith-deranged in other words, as likely to do fine among the unwashed crazies in the red-state primaries, but whose religious beliefs would (or should) render them unfit for civilized company anywhere else.

Betcha Jeffrey Tayler was “enlightened” enough to vote for a Sunni Muslim for president - twice... LOL! :)
The author of the article is more deranged than any of the people he tries to eviscerate.
Articles like this are why Salon will never be worth more than a bent up, semi crumpled Marxist pamphlet handed out on a street corner in Greenwich Village.
I can’t open the link here , but I ma guessing there is no attacks on Paul and his social liberal policies like drugs, open borders, homosexual agenda, reduced military ?
if they have then someone please let me know .
As far as I can see, Ted Cruz's faith is the same as mine. This writer is entitled to his opinion and so am I. He's headed for an eternity in Hell without Christ.
Oh look, the godless pagans who have set the world alight are deriding people rooted in faith and common sense. Have Marxists ever not hated God and those with faith?
How much longer before they start justifying the death of those with faith. Judging by what happened in Indiana and articles like this, it won’t be long.
Maranatha!
He skewered him a little bit, but applauds him for seeming to have a lot of doubts about God.
The article was written by a know-it-all atheist that claims there is no evidence for the existence of God. I am familiar with the species. I suspect that if he ever encountered a burning bush in his backyard, he would explain it away and push harder on the accelerator down the highway to hell.
If this is what we’re getting a year and half away from election day...
Thanks for the background. I did not know the author and have never read that website.

What if these idiots were publicly called out?

I’m trying to find the article where he analyzed Obama’s religion. I haven’t had any luck - can anybody here help me?
Some of the anger in the atheist liberals is that they are looking for all their answers in men. They are, therefore, always disappointed.
