Wouldn’t be surprises if he is hoping for a fund raiser.
Well, that’s true, you can refuse service for certain conditions (such as no shirt, no shoes, etc.) but not for a personal characteristic, such as race, sex, etc.
The garage owner is not going to have to perform a wedding for them, I assume, or do anything that would violate any religious duties he may have. I’m sure he takes lots of money from gay people whether he knows it or not, and in any case, unless somebody comes in and says they’re gay and they want they’re car repaired, how is he going to know?
Many people you’d think are gay actually are not gay, but even if they are, repairing their car is not compromising him religiously, if he’s a Christian, at any rate. Is he a Muslim?
Sorry, but whatever he is, he’s wrong. Doing things like this will seriously set back the ability of religious people to defend themselves from doing things like “marrying” persons of the same sex, a religious act which is not at all the same as repairing the car of somebody you suspect might be gay
Nobody has had that right since the 60s, so those signs are meaningless.
I can’t support this guy’s stance (at least as outlined in this story). Unless gays are coming in and asking him to put a sign on their car that says “Support gay marriage!” or something of that ilk, there’s no reason for him not to serve them. Heck, how would he know they’re gay unless they inform him so? (Okay, yes, you can guess, but you really can’t know. Have known some swishy straight guys and burly macho gays!)
How do you tell a “HOMO” car owner from a straight one? rear end? driveshaft? radiator leakage?
I think that Christians need to be careful not to be a stumbling block to people struggling with sin, but who are nonetheless seeking the truth in Jesus.
Note that 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 shows that some members of that church had struggled with same-sex temptations, but had evidently accepted Gods grace to repent and turn their lives around.
No grease job for your Smart car with the rainbow in the window. Go pack.......
The civil rights era just keeps on givin.
I’m all for businesses being able to refuse service to anyone for any reason short of dire lifesaving care.
Seems to me, letting a business do business as they please is good for all of us. If I owned a restaurant I would pray to God that my competition would refuse to serve blacks or asians.
When are people like this going to learn to keep their mouths shut? No one asked his opinion. He had to have known he was going to get a lot of negative responses. What was his end game? Money?
At any rate, I certainly wouldn't refuse to sell an article from a store I owned to anyone. Unless, like the florists or the bakers, they were asking me to design something that conflicted with my ethics. Selling a firearm to a homosexual (if somehow I could determine they were homos) would not bother me in the slightest.
And yes, I'm against homo marriage, homo adoption, and I believe homosexuality is a mental disorder.
Faggots pay double.
That being said.. fixing gay guy car does not have any religious connotations .. but politically the gay rights movement has become such thugs about imposing on other ... but not ever gay is a "Pink Panther"
