John McCain’s Growing Electability Problem

On April 6th, 5-term Arizona Senator John McCain announced on NBC that he will be running for a 6th-term to the US Senate in 2016, and said he was “just getting started” when it comes to his Senate career. This didn’t come as much of a surprise to the conservative areas of the state who have been dreading the announcement for months.

Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward has become a quick favorite to retire the 78 year old Senior Senator who was first elected to the Hill in the early ’80s. Ward officially launched a Senate Exploratory Committee last week, and received around 25% in recent polling according to a source close to the State Senator. McCain will no-doubt face a difficult primary, but that may not be his biggest struggle in 2016.

Rising Democrat stars in Arizona including Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly, the husband of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, both pose as serious threats to McCain in early polling. In one poll, Democrats ranked Arizona as one of the most “winnable” Senate states in 2016 with other polling showing John McCain as the least popular Senator in the country.

snip

McCain has never been as vulnerable as he is now. He will be 80 on Election day, and his term would not be completed until age 87. His rapid decline in popularity is not a good sign for the McCain campaign, and would likely add to the already difficult General election if paired up against someone like Kyrsten Sinema.

Whether it be a close Primary challenge between John McCain and State Senator Kelli Ward or a neck-and-neck General election against one of the Democrat’s new darlings, 2016 is not shaping up to be a good year for John McCain.

I was angered to learn of the administration’s use of the IRS against American citizens, but not surprised.
Learning that a republican senator had done the same enraged me.
John McCain is without honor. He should go some place where decent Americans don’t have to see his face.

The man is despicable! Conniving, vengeful, hateful. Filled with venom and vehemence. He is insane.

That said, talk of [ooga booga] a Democrat like Mark Victim Husband Kelly as a serious danger to his re-election is diversionary IMO. What Arizona citizens as responsible conservative or Republican individuals should be thinking of is how to defeat this madman in a party primary.

Throw as much money, younger saner conservative talent as they can muster against him and THEN deal with whatever cookie cutter victim the Democrats throw up as opposition.

The idea ofMcCain, with six more years, and never having to worry about being accountable to the voters, is scary. Look at what Hatch did...swore up and down he was a conservative, then the day after he was elected, he went off the reservation. He’s supporting Lynch for AG. We can’t make the same mistake twice..

...said he was “just getting started” when it comes to his Senate career.

Poster child for your typical government employee. On the job for 30 years and he's just now getting around to doing something.

Still and all, I think we'd be better off if he continued to spend his days doing nothing.

The only thing worse than a government employee who doesn't do the job he's paid to do is a government employee who DOES do the job he's paid to do.

Remember what Arlen Specter did? His own party repudiated him and he got angry - very angry that his former constituents dared to say they didn’t think his ideals and performance was what they wanted. They just threw all of HIS stature out the door and he was not having any of it. IIRC he ran as an Independent or something.

I see McCain as the same thing. IMO, he’s crazier than a bag of sh!thouse rats, and there is no telling what he’ll ever do with respect to anything.

Like I mentioned in another thread earlier this morning, all you have to do is watch the 1985 movie “Witness”, with Harrison Ford, to get a very dismal picture of not just government corruption but also government gone out of control. When I see ones like McCain or Schumer or DiFi or Lindsay or Corker or McConnell, I’m reminded of the corrupt cops Danny Glover, Josef Sommer, and Angus MacInnes played.

This fossil will be 79 in August. He will be 85 if he serves another full term.

This has nothing to do with wanting to serve his nation. This is all about ego, power, and arrogance. GO AWAY ALREADY! Is his life so vacant that he wants to spend the time he has left in DC? That mindset automatically should disqualify a candidate.

And if Johnny can’t be Senator from Arizona then by gum, he’ll help a Democrat get it.

This is the point before an election where McCain starts talking like Super Conservative in order to get reelected. The people of Arizona fall for it and the day after the election he reverts back to Dem lite and starts sucking up to the liberal media. Let’s hope this election breaks the cycle.

Not on the military because he's bought and paid for by the military arms industry.
