Bone-dry California dumps water to 'make fish happy'
WND ^ | 04/11/2015 | Greg Corombos

Posted on 04/13/2015 8:32:00 AM PDT by detective

Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., is working feverishly to reverse federal and state policies that give fish and rivers priority over people in the distribution of water during the worst drought in California history.

The state is now in the fourth year of the drought, and water reserves are running frighteningly low. McClintock said it’s a result of stunningly stupid policies dating back to the last time Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown was in office.

“We haven’t built a major dam in this state since 1979,” McClintock said. “Meanwhile, the population has nearly doubled. We aren’t going to solve our water problems until we begin building more dams. We can’t build more dams as long as the radical environmental laws make their construction impossible.”

"Pleeeze! Don’t give these bastards any more crazy ideas. There are already “movements” to take down dams because they “harm” the fish."

ok. I won't give them any crazy ideas.

Doesn't everyone in california have a swimming pool?

All the swimming pool owners could donate living space for the fish.

The owners could also bathe in there, use that water to wash dishes. Do californians wash dishes?

No

“All the swimming pool owners could donate living space for the fish.”

Fish need running water and die with levels of chlorine in a swimming pool

The owners could also bathe in there, use that water to wash dishes. Do californians wash dishes?”

So stupid a comment as to not warrant a response. I guess you’re jealous that we have running water and indoor plumbing. Just hope it’s warm in the morning when you take your hike to the outhouse!

Make that Federal Government Idiots. Our “water use policies” here in CA are almost completely driven by the EPA and the Bureau of Reclamation. And that’s driven by the fact that most of our watershed is federally owned land. Nearly half of all land in California is “owned” by the Federal Government!

Wouldn't you know? Right now, at this very moment my town is busy installing a sewer system! My town is getting updated to the twentieth century. Come this Fall, I won't have to use the outhouse aka "obama library" anymore.

If I were there, and saw this, I would have went right up to the sick SOB and pulled out a knife and said “OK, you first, right now and right here”.

As a reminder of the bucket brigade, there was a GIANT bucket on the sidewalk right out front of City Hall. Last summer, the city moved it out of there and hid it at the fairgrounds. I guess they didn’t like to be reminded who is in charge.
Should be an interesting summer here. Water will again be a problem.

Deport your illegals. You’ll save billions in subsidies and have all the water you will ever need.

Sorry, but if every illegal alien in California disappeared tomorrow, it would only make a difference of less than 1% in California's annual water use. Almonds and alfalfa, on the other hand, receive federal price subsidies, are largely exported, and between the two of them are responsible for fully half the water used in California each year.

It is much better to swat team people who might used one more drop of water in the shower than to let the fish die.

Besides, the fish have no money to steal under the guise of penalties. Blood bags, people, are so much easier to cash in on.

The whole system is screwy. Farmers in California have to use their full allotment of water or lose it for the following year. So they grow crops that are already in excess, causing the prices to go down, triggering federal crop subsidies.

Question # 1: where is that informstion coming from?

You can find it easily from multiple sources if you bother to look. You can start with Wikipedia.Basically, 80% of the annual water use in California is agricultural irrigation. That leaves 20% for residential use. Of that, more than half goes to landscape watering, a good chunk of that to golf course in the Palm Springs area, and I think you will agree that illegal aliens don't typically have lush lawns. So about 8% goes to actual household use--toilets, showers, etc., with usage heavier in more affluent neighborhoods. Illegal aliens make up about 10% of the population. So, assuming that illegal aliens use the average amount of water, they account for less than 1% of the annual water used in the state.

Quesion # 2: are you Hispanic?

Mostly German and Italian heritage, with a few other things mixed in. You?

. “Meanwhile, the population has nearly doubled.

Because CA has become an illegal safe-haven.
