As a Private Lawyer, Ted Cruz Defended Companies Found Guilty of Wrongdoing

Two cases Cruz handled before joining the Senate could become an issue during his presidential bid.

In his bio on his presidential campaign website, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) boasts of what he did as Texas solicitor general to defend the Second Amendment, the Pledge of Allegiance, and US sovereignty—all conservative causes. But Cruz does not detail another important chapter in his legal career: his work as a well-paid private attorney who helped corporations found guilty of wrongdoing.

He represented a guy on death row — no doubt pro bono. He also represented defendants who were guilty. Does Mother Jones really want to prevent lawyers from representing defendants who are guilty??? I’m thinking there are an awful lot of inner city youth who would be denied the right to counsel if that were the standard.
But it is interesting how scared they all are of Cruz.

Yes, he’s a lawyer - it’s part of his job. Like John Adams. Only without the powdered wig.

Imagine that, a lawyer with a guilty client. That almost NEVER happens.

Big deal. Before he was president Obama was a community organizer. Anybody taken a look at the community he allegedly organized?

Corn, that’s old news!

And what does that have to do with the price of rice in China?

You are correct. And .. after working for lawyers (140) for over 6 years, and just for the info, a lawyer is PAID to DEFEND HIS CLIENTS.

As a private attorney, he was doing his job. He’s there to present the client’s side of the issue; whether or not the client has been accused of doing something wrong. It’s up to the judge to determine if the client’s side of the issue has merit.

While the left is always saying, “everyone deserves to give their side of the story”. I guess that doesn’t apply to anyone represented by Cruz.

And .. this was a PRIVATE CLIENT .. NOT THE GOVERNMENT.

When Cruz releases five of the worst terrorists from Gitmo, then you can talk about it, Mr. Corn. Go back to your gay agenda.

Yes, following the Dewhurst script. You don't think an untalented hack like David Corn could come up with that on his own, do you?

David Dewhurst spent millions trying to make these claims stick.

It worked out so well for him.

So predictable. Trying to make Cruz to be a heartless lawyer to evil, rich corporarions. Same old playbook.

All that means is the demodummies had a bigger, louder mouth than Cruz who was being paid to defend such companies. Perhaps there was a liberal judge (impossible you say?) who decided the outcome, etc. etc. There could be hundreds of reasons but the medias point is to degrade Cruz whenever, wherever they can. As far as I am concerned, its no big deal. At least Cruz had a job.

But yet ? Rand Paul wants laws repealed so that blacks who are already incarcerated let free because it , the law , is unfair to blacks because more of them are incarcerated than whites.

Only without the powdered wig.

You should see the legal industry in sundry British colonies: black guys, Orientals, &c. in powdered wigs! (it looks somewhat hilarious!) :-P

(Just trying to lighten the mood around here...)
