Towards the end of his speech at Tuesday mornings Easter Prayer Breakfast, President Barack Obama appeared to veer off script to make some comments that implicitly referenced the fierce debate that has been raging over the last week about religious freedom laws in Indiana, Arkansas and elsewhere.
On Easter, I do reflect on the fact that as a Christian, I am supposed to love, Obama said. And I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less-than-loving expressions by Christians, I get concerned. As the crowd began to murmur, the president backed off, saying, But thats a topic for another day.
I was about to veer off, he explained. Im pulling it back.
Where there is injustice we defend the oppressed, Obama said, returning to his prepared remarks. Where there is disagreement, we treat each other with compassion and respect. Where there are differences, we find strength in our common humanity, knowing that we are all children of God.
The moment drew the attention of Fox News, which played this section of the speech on air. The divisiveness over some issues coming up, but not Christians under attack around the world, Martha MacCallum noted, referring to the recent attack on a Kenya university that explicitly targeted Christians.

I hear that eternity in hell sucks, Obama.
But less-than-loving Muslims? No problem, because whatever Islam is about, it isn’t love.
What a tiresome scold.
“As a Christian” my arse:
FALSANI: What do you believe?
OBAMA: I am a Christian.
So, I have a deep faith. So I draw from the Christian faith.
On the other hand, I was born in Hawaii where obviously there are a lot of Eastern influences.
I lived in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, between the ages of six and 10.
My father was from Kenya, and although he was probably most accurately labeled an agnostic, his father was Muslim.
And I’d say, probably, intellectually I’ve drawn as much from Judaism as any other faith.
(A patron stops and says, “Congratulations,” shakes his hand. “Thank you very much. I appreciate that. Thank you.”)
So, I’m rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people. That there are values that transcend race or culture, that move us forward, and there’s an obligation for all of us individually as well as collectively to take responsibility to make those values lived.
And so, part of my project in life was probably to spend the first 40 years of my life figuring out what I did believe - I’m 42 now - and it’s not that I had it all completely worked out, but I’m spending a lot of time now trying to apply what I believe and trying to live up to those values.
These faux christians need to read their bibles. When it comes to homosexuals, Jesus being God incarnate, nuked them, two cities worth.
If I was going to hold any kind of meeting with “Christian” in the title, O is the last guy I would invite to speak.
In his world gay marriage is a big deal. Christians getting slaughtered in multiple countries by his co-religionists, hardly worth mentioning.
Obama is a bitter angry man
What a surprise. A homosexual muslim who does not like Christians.
FALSANI: The conversation stopper, when you say you’re a Christian and leave it at that.
OBAMA: Where do you move forward with that?
This is something that I’m sure I’d have serious debates with my fellow Christians about. I think that the difficult thing about any religion, including Christianity, is that at some level there is a call to evangelize and prostelytize. There’s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people haven’t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they’re going to hell.
FALSANI: You don’t believe that?
OBAMA: I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell.
The messiah hates competition.
Pray America is waking
No he’s not.
He’s annoyed because he has to show up for work for another 21 months, but he is looking forward to 40 years as a billionaire potentate.
Like "Hands up Don't shoot????" you heathen Marxist!
trying to save souls is not loving?
Right, we have to “love” sodomy and giving kids to gays to raise. How about caring about society, normal love and child raising?
FUBO!!!
"In drawing parallels between Christianity and Islam, Obama misses a basic point. Unlike Islam, which, in one century, conquered Arabia, the Middle and Near East, the Holy Land, North Africa and Spain, until the Muslim advance was halted by Charles Martel at Poitiers in France, Christianity did not conquer with the sword, but with the Word."
” is that at some level there is a call to evangelize and prostelytize.”
Evangelize? Probably.
prostelytize ? Not necessarily. I don’t do it.
” Theres the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people havent embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that theyre going to hell.”
I believe it is the epitome of arrogance that some Christians believe they have the ability to decide who God will save, or not save. I think God can sort this out without my input : )
However, from what I have seen, Obama is the epitome of pure evil, so if I get a wee bit arrogant regarding him, please forgive me.
O’Venal is not bright enough to be such an accomplished liar. He must be pathological or suffering other serious mental issues to actually believe what he says.
