(Breitbart) – In the second part of an exclusive interview with Breitbart News after the public grand opening of his Houston presidential campaign headquarters, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told Breitbart News that the modern Democratic Party is so radicalized and so extreme that it wont stand up for the most basic tenets of the U.S. Constitution, including religious liberty as afforded by the First Amendment.
Im proud that the state of Indiana stood to defend religious liberties, Cruz said in the interview, which took place before the state of Indiana backed down to the institutional lefts calls for changes to its Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
The vilification and attacks that have been levied against Indiana and Gov. Pence in particular have been abominable. It is a sad statement of just how far we have come. It was not too long ago when there was widespread bipartisan agreement in support of defending religious liberties.
Unfortunately, the modern Democratic Party has become so radicalized and so extreme that religious liberty is now deemed in conflict with the interests of the Democratic Party. Just two decades ago, Congress nearly virtually unanimously passed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. It was signed into law by a Democrat, Bill Clinton. Yet today, when Indiana passes nearly identical legislation, it is the subject of unfair attacks and vilification.
Cruz said the reasoning behind the viciousness and hate from far leftwing liberals against people in Indiana and Gov. Pence in particular is because of the Democratic Partys commitment to the far leftwing liberal agenda, after previously supporting more moderate positions in recent years.

Obama and the left are waging war on all of Christianity.
I bet only 20% of Dem voters know their party voted three times to remove God from their platform at their last Convention.
Is that the sound of heads exploding in the Religion Forum that I just heard?
Smart move by Ted to mention the Catholic Church among other Christians. There are a lot of JP11 Catholics (as I call them...and call myself I guess) that would identify with what he’s saying.
Very smart. The man is a maestro with perfect pitch. Now, if the Bishops will heed the warning from a Baptist...
I’ll agree.
Not only did they vote for that...they booed any mention of God.
Scary stuff.

“far leftwing liberal agenda”
True, but it is NOT liberal. It is National Socialist. The new Nazi party in the United States.
He’s got my vote.
Someone better MAY come along but as things stand now, he has mine too!
When even the Sisters of the Poor have to go to court to be exempted from having to provide birth control and abortifacients for their employee’s healthcare, yes, there is a war on the Catholic Church.
Ted Cruz is really the only guy who is telling it like it is, and calling out the extreme left wing radicalization of the Democratic Party. The GOPe? They just sit down and let the lamestream media and Democrats like Charles Schumer label Republicans as “far right” without hitting go back at them.
I think it’s very good for Ted Cruz to start naming names within religious groups but the Catholic Church embraces dollars & dineros & holds very liberal views on immigration laws under “sympathy, love & compassion”& amnesty & open borders in the US
Catholic Chuch will take advantage of those $$’s to keep their scam going.
Scam? Show me a bishop , archbishop , or Cardinal that is supportive & endorses LEGAL immigration to the US.
Let’s hope there are a lot ticked off catholics who get off of the Democrat plantation and soon.
20% of Democrats are so stupid they don’t realize that FDR and JFK are both dead and aren’t the same person.
