Obama Announces Plan to Train 75,000 Solar Workers

The White House has announced a goal to train 75,000 workers in the solar industry by 2020, many of them veterans. "These are good-paying jobs that are helping folks enter the middle-class," President Barack Obama said on Friday at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The plan will expand on the Department of Energy SunShot Initiative's Solar Instructor Training Network currently running at more than 400 community colleges. The White House also announced the Solar Ready Vets program aimed at helping veterans transition into the solar industry. A joint program between the Department of Defense and the DOE, it's currently being launched at 10 military bases across the country, including Hill Air Force Base and Camp Pendleton in California.

You assume “helping the middle class” is something more than a political slogan. As we both know, the left thrives on deception. Why? Because truth would lead to their ruin.

I'm a retired electrician myself who, back in the late 90's was involved in the electrical installation of dozens of 300 foot windmills in Eastern Oregon and the Columbia Gorge.

There is plenty of wind to generate the electricity, problem is....THERE IS NO DELIVERY METHOD OF SAID ELECTRICITY, UNTIL THEY CONSTRUCT MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF POWER LINES TO THE WINDMILLS AT ASTRONOMICAL COSTS.

So, as usual it's a big, cost ineffective GREEN SCAM.

I remember a few years ago they had this great training program to evaluate heat losses from residences......using a thermal detector gadget...(which could be rented for a day at a time).

I later saw one guy with a booth outside a local supermarket....but no takers.

This would be true for any new power generation plant. Granted in a way it is worse for windmills because they are not centralized.

Also windmills aren’t as nature friendly as they are cracked up to be. They kill birds including endangered ones. They make noise. Neither of which something like a nuke plant would do.

Going up on roofs in summer time to install solar panels? That can be brutal.

You’ll be required to install a new roof on your home prior to the solar panel installation.

That way they won’t have to rip up all your solar panels for a new roof for 10 years or so when the shingles are worn out. yuk yuk.
