Let us assume, for the moment, that individuals and organizations opposed to Indiana’s new Religious Freedom Restoration Act are well intentioned and pursuing their protests in good conscience. That may be more credit than most of them would give to people on the other side of the debate. But I’ve got a point to make.
The view of the opposition is that this law denies the civil rights of gays. They are convinced that those who support it are motivated by animosity toward homosexuals and revulsion at the idea that people of the same sex can marry. Opponents reject any argument that the law is meant to defend religious freedom. In fact, they don’t see how religion comes into it very much at all: How does equality for some people impinge on the beliefs and faith practices of others? they’ll ask. This is a plural society. So it’s a matter of “Live and let live!”
Now, if you really press them, you might eventually get a little bit of candor out of somebody: Sure, I can see how a Christian baker might feel uncomfortable making a cake for a gay wedding.
Still, they won’t give an inch on what they see as the essential principle at stake: When you’re in business to serve the public, you have to accommodate all of the public. And that’s as far as their thinking goes.
It is -- to be charitable -- as far as their thinking is likely to go, given the irreligious character of the current intellectual atmosphere. Let’s face it, moral philosophy isn’t a widely shared interest just now. Even churchgoers often find it difficult to express their moral perspective cogently. They might say something like: What about the Christian baker? Doesn’t he have rights too?

Well, I will sell them a cake, but they can’t force me to like it.
In that vein, I don’t understand or like the lifestyle of a lot of the idiots around me, but I don’t have to, do I?
Look on the bright side.
They don’t reproduce.
They delude themselves by calling it “marriage”.
Calling a dogs tail it’s 5th leg doesn’t make it a leg. (to paraphrase Lincoln.)
Can't take much comfort from that, they haven't reproduced from time immemorial, but for all that they don't seem to be decreasing in numbers.
RE: Well, I will sell them a cake, but they cant force me to like it.
And that’s all they want. They can’t read your mind and could care less about that frown on your face. What they want is a semblance of NORMALCY.
They want society to VALIDATE their relationship, they want gay marriage to be equal to traditional marriage and by forcing religious and devout people to participate, this is the camel’s nose in the tent (so to speak).
Next step will be (I predict) to force army chaplains to perform gay weddings, then, churches to officiate gay weddings ( remember, the government still retains the right to withdraw tax exemptions ).
It’s all in Saul Alinsky’s playbook — they don’t try to win in one giant step, but slowly...
That’s how freedoms disappear, not in one big bang, but by slowly weakening conviction.
I've known several homosexuals who were comfortable in their own skin and did not need society's approval. The ones that are kicking up a fuss are the ones who know in their heart of hearts that they are perverts, and they require a transformed society to validate them in order to "feel good about themselves".
Look on the bright side.
They dont reproduce.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
They don’t have to reproduce. They own the schools.
No, that’s not quite right. Morality isn’t the main issue, IMHO. They want societal acceptance, because it makes recruiting easier. Special privileges as a protected class are an added bonus!
I don’t think there are any more of them.
They’ve just gotten louder...
RE: Look on the bright side.
They dont reproduce.

That is NOT the bright side. technology has allowed In-vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, and government allows gay adoptions.

There’s the Democrat party, academia and the media (gay or not). That’s a HUGE chunk of American society right there.
Which is not in the best interest of the general welfare. The state requires little urchins to grow up and become taxpayers. Homosexual couples are naturally incapable of such.
This article is exactly correct. The people who live the gay lifestyle want validation.
But, as Christians do not believe in that lifestyle, then it’s the Christians that must go; it’s the Christians who must bend and scrape and try to make these mis-guided people believe they are accepted into society.
Good luck with that.
Those who believe in and rely on the Bible will never get passed what the Bible says. It’s that simple.
I can’t help but wonder if all the talk about Obama being gay has something to do with this. They set him up with a wife and family; but is that real? This is very curious to me. Was Obama elected only to impose the gay lifestyle upon America? Wow! Have we been paying attention to what’s really going on in America.
So far, only two people have openly stated the truth: Rush Limbaugh and Ted Cruz. Where the hell are the rest of you America?
Actually, in a way, they do.
They're allowed to adopt children whose minds they then corrupt with their warped worldview.
More? No, but neither have their numbers dwindled for lack of reproduction down the millennia.
Here we are, on the defense again.
Every time the Democrats get in trouble, they trot out something really stupid and start screaming about it and the Conservatives go on the defensive.
Baloney.
That idiot Democrat President is killing this country. Look at unemployment! Look at the economy! Look at his foreign policy!
How many homosexuals do you know? How many of them want to get married? How many of them that want to get married can’t bake a cake?
Take the offense! The Democrats are killing this country!
They do by indoctrinating underage children.
I was just reading about the Advanced Placement history test questions and answers. WSJ had an editorial yesterday from Lynne Cheney that would make your skin crawl...
