A former executive of a medical device company says a video of him bullying a Chick-fil-A employee has destroyed his career. Adam Smith once earned more than $200,000 a year as the chief financial officer of Tuscon-based Vante. The married father of four is now unemployed and living on food stamps three years after his videotaped rant went viral online.
In the video, Smith berates a Chick-fil-A employee for working at a company that supports anti-gay organizations.
"Chick-Fil-A is a hateful corporation," Smith said. "I don't know how you live with yourself and work here. I don't understand it. This is a horrible corporation with horrible values. You deserve better."
At the time, Chick-fil-A was facing a huge public backlash for its financial support of anti-gay groups and for the company president's remarks against gay marriage.
Smith was promptly fired from his job.
"I got into work and the receptionist, the first thing, big eyes, 'Adam, what did you do?' ... she said, 'The voicemail is completely full, and it's full of bomb threats,'" Smith told ABC News.

I did suggest that to a Chick-fil-A employee and a manager. they both laughed, then got thoughtful looks and allowed that it was a good idea.
Yeah, I was there too.
This story has been posted probably 20 times in the past few days. I wonder why?
He’s a liberal, and being liberal means never having to say, “I’m Sorry”
Schadenfreude over a lefty jerk who got his comeuppance.
They serve chikin, not crow. I believe that comrade Smith prefers crow.
Yet it’s not an important story - the constant mastication of it is puzzling.
Sure. Make him work his way to the top, by starting as a fry cook.
This is the media bubble. They believe the things that motivate them are the same as what motivates the general public
As you noted, this line has been re-written.
Let's think for a moment of what it would look like if written by a more objective journalist:
"At the time, Chick-fil-A was experiencing a huge groundswell of support and record business days in reaction to gay organizations' attempts to stifle the company's freedom of association and support of traditional Judeo-Christian values."
Why does he not send his resume to Apple? He won’t get hired as a CFO, but I presume he’d be warmly received (given their CEO), and probably get a decent paying job.
There is a huge difference between the two in my opinion. The Mozilla guy donated his own money, privately - to a “non-PC” organization. The Chick-Fil-A idiot went out of his way to film and post a video in an effort to ridicule an innocent worker of a restaurant, based on his disagreement with the CEO’s beliefs. As others have already pointed out, this was incredibly bad judgement, which the business used as their rationale to excuse him.
Discussing an idea or an opinion in a suitable public forum, or in a forum you purchased (say an advertisement) are several forms of free speech.
Being publicly rude to a lowly employee, likely a teenager who has no influence on the company's policies, shows incredibly bad judgement. It sounds like he paid the price.

Do we really have to tag every facetious comment?

If I was the cashier, Mr. Smith would have been missing a few teeth. I don't have that much patience with arrogant slobs like him.
There is no freaking way he would have picked on someone that was bigger than him (I’m assuming you are a large man). He picked on a young woman, much like Kanye West picked on Taylor Swift. Ol’ Kanye wouldn’t have done that to a man.
This is the first time I’ve seen it so I’m glad it’s been posted a few times. Unfortunately, your link was removed. I wanted to go back and read the comments. Some of you people could be comedy writers.
Let us revisit this clown’s actions:

Perhaps someone can find the video of him harassing the guy carrying the cross as well.
