So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.
They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them.
And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road;
others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying
Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!
Matthew 21: 6-9

Lord God Almighty,
Even though You are ever faithful, so often we are unfaithful to You. How quickly we betray You. In one moment we praise You, and seek Your saving graces. In the next moment, we forget You---we turn our backs and flee from You instead of drawing closer to You. Holy God, You are forever to be praised! Never should a day go by upon this earth that Your Name is not exalted and glorified, blessed and honored. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and Your glory above all the earth.
Father, may the peace that passes all understanding dwell in the hearts and minds of our military men and women. Give them help from trouble, for You are He who shall tread down their enemies. Draw them to that secret place of the Most High so that they may abide under Your shadow there.
Our prayers are lifted up on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Israel, Lord. Keep them as the apple of Your eye. Hide them in the shelter of Your wings. May our government leaders support them, and may Your people continue to hold this nation up in prayer.
Oh that men would give thanks to You, Lord for Your goodness, and for Your wonderful works to the children of men! For You satisfy the longing soul, and fill the hungry soul with goodness. We rejoice in these days leading up to Resurrection Sunday, for we know that the celebration of the Resurrected Lord is near. We praise the Name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, both now and evermore. Amen.

Who Are You? March 29, 2015
When [Jesus] had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
Matthew 21:10
From time to time, we read of people who are offended at not being treated with what they consider due respect and deference. Do you know who I am? they shout indignantly. And we are reminded of the statement, If you have to tell people who you are, you probably really arent who you think you are. The polar opposite of this arrogance and self-importance is seen in Jesus, even as His life on earth was nearing its end.
Jesus entered Jerusalem to shouts of praise from the people (Matt. 21:7-9). When others throughout the city asked, Who is this? the crowds answered, This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee (vv.10-11). He didnt come claiming special privileges, but in humility He came to give His life in obedience to His Fathers will.
The words Jesus said and the things He did commanded respect. Unlike insecure rulers, He never demanded that others respect Him. His greatest hours of suffering appeared to be His lowest point of weakness and failure. Yet, the strength of His identity and mission carried Jesus through the darkest hours as He died for our sins so that we might live in His love.
He is worthy of our lives and our devotion today. Do we recognize who He is?
Lord, I am in awe of Your humility, strength, and love. And I am embarrassed by my desires for self-importance. May knowing You change every self-centered motive in my heart into a longing to live as You did in this world.
When once you have seen Jesus, you can never be the same. Oswald Chambers
: The disciple of Christ should be preoccupied with exalting Him instead of self. The words My utmost for His highest, taken from Oswald Chambers classic devotional, express the goal of the follower of Christ.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

Gen. George Washington and his Troops Marching To Valley Forge December 1777 |
GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered his prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His Manifold Blessings upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who marched into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.
AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and gather them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these valiant men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your Loving Embrace, that You cause Your Countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
