This comes from ETH Zurich:
Cold snaps like the ones that hit the eastern United States in the past winters are not a consequence of climate change. Scientists at ETH Zurich and the California Institute of Technology have shown that global warming actually tends to reduce temperature variability.
Repeated cold snaps led to temperatures far below freezing across the eastern United States in the past two winters. Parts of the Niagara Falls froze, and ice floes formed on Lake Michigan. Such low temperatures had become rare in recent years. Pictures of icy, snow-covered cities made their way around the world, raising the question of whether climate change could be responsible for these extreme events.
Scientists at ETH Zurich and at the California Institute of Technology, led by Tapio Schneider, professor of climate dynamics at ETH Zurich, have come to a different conclusion. They used climate simulations and theoretical arguments to show that in most places, the range of temperature fluctuations will decrease as the climate warms. So not only will cold snaps become rarer simply because the climate is warming. Additionally, their frequency will be reduced because fluctuations about the warming mean temperature also become smaller, the scientists wrote in the latest issue of the Journal of Climate. . .

Attributing causation of weather events of any sort to “climate change” is a category error. Climate is an aggregation or average over time and space of weather. Changes in the measurements that go into an average or aggregate are never caused by changes in the average or aggregate, but rather cause the average or aggregate to change.
Attributing any weather event to climate change is like attributing a decline in the household income of a particular family or households in a particular town to a decline in median household income.
2015 will go down in the climate history books as the warmest year ever.
The “I love science” phonies will I’m sure look at this and totally support the findings.........yeah.
I thought the science was settled!
lol
I think we have just about reached “peak climate scare”. Even the founder of Greenpeace said it is hoax. Big Climate is going down.

Many scientists are predicting that we may be in for many years of colder temperatures because of the low sun-spot frequency. Such an event is believed to be responsible for the cold temperatures in the 1700s and early 1800s.

Didn’t you just use the “weather” in the last word of your explanation To attribute it to Climate change ?
My explanation was of the absurdity of attributing any change in a measurement to a change in an aggregate or average including the measurement and was perfectly general. Therefore I did not need to repeat the word weather.
The alarmist mantra “weather is not climate” is true on the face, but overlooks the fact that climate is weather, averaged and aggregated over time and space. I think it is part of their self-deception: they fancy that the unpredictability of weather is due to random variation, which if smoothed out by averaging will result in a predictable system. In fact the unpredictability of weather is due to the fact that atmospheric dynamics are non-linear. Non-linearity does not go away when one takes averages.

Global Warming on Free Republic
These “climate scientists” have no frikkin’ idea what to expect, and their “climate models” are clearly not a help, but a hindrance to their understanding.
Our children are the oysters.
No, it’s Elsa the ice queen that causes winter all over the place. What do you think causes it?!!! As a side note, ten years ago, they actually warned us that thermohaline circulation would mean a whole lot of warming would trigger an ice age, I miss those old warnings about how warming the Earth would cause cooling as negative feedback.
