WASHINGTON — Senator Harry Reid, the tough tactician who has led Senate Democrats since 2005, will not seek re-election next year, bringing an end to a three-decade congressional career that culminated with his push of President Obama’s ambitious agenda against fierce Republican resistance.
Mr. Reid, 75, who suffered serious eye and facial injuries in a Jan. 1 exercise accident at his Las Vegas home, said he had been contemplating retiring from the Senate for months. He said his decision was not attributable either to the accident or to his demotion to minority leader after Democrats lost the majority in November’s midterm elections.

Timing is a bit suspicious...probably wants to get out of town before Trey Gowdy is sworn in as the next US Attorney General.

I was meditating this morning and it came to me very strongly that today was going to be an extraordinarily good day. This news gives me the biggest boost!

He needs to quit his self sacrificing public service so he can make some REAL money in the private sector

Nothing new. He has been using his position to enrich his family and friends for decades and nothing has ever been done.
Over and over, forever. Kind of like the Geo. Orwell quote - " If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face, forever". I like it.
Good chance of a GOP pickup with the right candidate.
The last Senator to go to jail was Harrison A. Williams (D-NJ) in 1982 for Abscam and he was the first one in 80 years. I highly doubt our justice system has gotten more just since 1982.
