On Monday, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz taught the Republican Party a lesson it desperately needs to learn. Mr. Cruz taught the GOP something about winning.
The Republican Party, at least at the national level, is pretty pathetic. The Republicans have lost four of the last six presidential elections. Republicans have actually lost the popular vote in five of the last six presidential elections. Even the two races that George W. Bush won were close. The 2000 election was not decided until weeks after Election Day and even in 2004, Democrat John Kerry kept it close enough that he did not concede until the next day.
Ted Cruz broke the rules with his announcement. A Republican candidate is supposed to play the game. He is supposed to be not interested. Then there are leaks from family and friends encouraging him to run. Then the candidate finally sets up an exploratory committee. Finally, he does what everyone knew he was going to do months ago. He runs.
Ted Cruz broke the model. He didnt bother with an exploratory committee. He just ran. He went to Liberty University, the last place a Republican moderate would think about going. He made a speech that fit Ronald Reagans vision of a banner of bold colors, not pale pastels. He spoke for 45 minutes without a teleprompter.
By breaking the rules, Ted Cruz is showing the GOP something else.
He is the only candidate who can beat a Democrat in 2016....

I fear America is too liberal for Ted, but he makes Jebbie look really, really pathetic.
Only response to his announcement by the GOPe has been hostile. Shouldn’t Rience Priebus have commented by now, at least?
Prince Riebus is useless.
Rancid Prius did what?
The liberal republicans hate that they are being forced to live up to conservatism and constitutionalism.

Exactly right. Cruz is the only one who understands you can’t keep doing the same thing over and over.
I'm with him. I'll donate a couple months from now after I pay my taxes.
He is so on target on the issues and he fights!
I'm not voting for the weak kneed cowards who sell me out. I will only vote for those who will fight!
Excellent article. The comments are entertaining. For fun read them and see if you can spot the democrat operatives posing as republicans.
My favorite is the one that says if Cruz is our candidate Hillary will mop the floor with him. Cheap entertainment I know.
Prince Reibus and Mike Steele were as useless as tits on a bull.
The liberal republicans hate that they have pretend to be conservative and constitutional until after they get re-elected.
Can you even imagine Hillary Clinton debating Ted Cruz? I don’t care if Candy Crowley and her three sisters were the moderators!
R. Ponnuru over at the Corner reports that Cruz:
1. Is for guest-worker program and open to offering legal status to illegals.
2. Voted against an amendment to cap immigration over the next decade to 30 million.
3. Offered an amendment to expand H-1B visas by a factor of five.
Watch anyone who specifies only controlling the border first. That is code talk for amnesty for the 30 illegals already in the country.
The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.
“30 illegals already in the country.”
That is, of course, 30 MILLION
Nothing! Usually the GOP ‘head’ notices when a Republican files for the Presidency..... not this one. I’m outraged they asked Ted not to primary any of the Senate weasels - he complied - but they won’t acknowledge his bid.
Ted could and should have scalped at least 4 RINO senators in the primaries, knowing what we know now.
Some major horse-trading going on right now... even Sarah’s being silent about it.

Congress has capitulated everything to the states and the judiciary.
My US rep said in a townhall recently that he had had breakfast with Justice Scalia that week and Scalia told him the SCOTUS was getting weary of bailing Congress out.

In his announcement speech at Liberty, Cruz specifically spoke of the men in 1776 who signed that special document and referred to the signers’ agreement to mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.
Cruz is serious about this time in America’s history being another decisive time for Americans’ to rise together to defend Her.
Lots of politicians have said words like that. Difference this time is...I believe him.
“Democrats start with a 242-102 lead in the Electoral College.”
Unless some of those blue states are painted red or at least purple, Ronald Reagan couldn’t pull off a win in 2016.
I think Judson Phillips is right, Broad Bold Colors is what it is going to take. Cruz is still number two on my list of maybe four I could or would vote for.
