Two Latino groups on Monday rejected the presidential candidacy of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, saying that he could alienate Hispanics from that party even more given his "anti-immigrant" stance and his rejection of President Barack Obama's executive action measures on behalf of undocumented immigrants.
Cruz, a senator from Texas who was born to a Cuban father and an American mother, on Monday became the first politician to officially announce his intention to run for the White House in the 2016 election and, if he wins, he would be the first Hispanic president in the country's history.
The Dream Action Coalition, which defends the rights of young undocumented "dreamers" who benefit under the Deferred Action, or DACA, program announced by Obama in 2012, on Monday expressed its "rejection" of Cruz and said that it was "sad" to have to position itself in that way vis-a-vis the first Latino to announce his presidential candidacy.
"The only policy of Ted Cruz that Latinos hear is that he wants to do away with DACA for the dreamers, block (the associated) DAPA (program) for our parents and obstruct immigrant reform for years longer," said the co-directors of the coalition, Cesar Vargas and Erika Andiola.
DAPA is the program announced last November by Obama that will benefit undocumented parents whose children are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who can prove that they have lived in the country since before Jan. 1, 2010, and do not have a criminal record.
"Although Ted Cruz has a Latino name and immigration in his past, there the similarities between the Latino community and him end," said Vargas and Andiola...

Which is bullcrap BTW. He better get over the H-1b increase thing and fast.
Parasites.
At least they’re against him because they disagree with him on an issue and not simply because he’s a republican.
But I have a feeling they’d be against him if he supported DACA because he IS a republican.
When it comes to the time to cast a vote, who will Hispanics vote for? A lying elderly white woman, or the chance to put one of their own in office?
Anti-Law-Breaking.
Pro-Legal-Immigrant.
Idiots.
He is a tio Tomás.
The ability to go right to the voting public, and he will do it, will have a whole new meaning. I foresee Cruz calling the press out on the immediate attacks by the MSM.
“Latino groups reject Cruz’s candidacy”
Actually a group of leftist illegal alien organizations did.
That was one of the biggest faults of W. Bush.
He did the rope-a-dope while the MSM turned him into a punching bag.
I’m sorry, could someone point me to the ‘Hispanic’ caucus of the REPUBLICAN party which supports illegal immigration?
Cruz is anti-slavery. Fox News and the Oligarchy wants you Latinos working on the plantation paying off their debts.
Racist SOB uncle Pedro’s!
The groups calling him out on immigration are “anti-rule-of-law”. They can KMA!
Cuban immigrants, for the most part, ARE different from the ILLEGALS of today. Living in S. Florida, we knew many and their parents made sure their kids knew they were to become US citizens and full fledged Americans. They learned to speak English along with their kids and I never knew any of them looking to get government handouts.
anti-illegal immigration = pro Constitution and pro enforcement of our laws. if one apposes that then one is of a criminal mind set.
And these illegal groups thought they had our politicians by the nads..
Two leftist wing nut groups.
