Redistributing wealth may be all that staves off collapse
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | March 20, 2015 | Robert Reich

It’s now possible to sell a new product to hundreds of millions of people without needing many, if any, workers to produce or distribute it.

At its prime in 1988, Eastman Kodak, the iconic American photography company, had more than 145,000 employees. In 2012, Kodak filed for bankruptcy.

The same year Kodak went under, Instagram, the world’s newest photo company, had 13 employees serving 30 million customers.

Reich's solution for income inequality is to transfer wealth from the private sector to the public sector for redistribution. I can choose whether or not to use a private sector's services or products. The public sector does not offer me that option. What is going to break the economies of the nation, states and municipalities will be debt obligations for unfunded pension and benefits owed public service employees not Facebook or Instagram.

we have been stupidly “redistributing” wealth worldwide for decades and it has accomplished nothing except making the morons of the world feel entitled to MORE and MORE.

The earth is too cold -- quick! Redistribute the wealth!
The earth is too hot -- quick! Redistribute the wealth!
The economy isn't growing -- quick! Redistribute the wealth!
The economy is growing too fast, and people are getting rich -- quick! Redistribute the wealth!

You know, after a while, I start to think that redistributing the wealth is the only thing they really have on their minds ...

Where else could a sawed off little nobody make something else of himself but in an environment where his needs (and those like him) are met by others willing to work.

Great. Let people decide how to do it — it’s called a “market”.

In every Democrat's mind is the following quote from an old Clint Eastwood movie....doin good ain't got no end. Never mind responsible spending, creating eh entices to grow, just tax the shit out of those who've earned money!

who's more selfish, those who pay more than 40% of their income in to form of taxes, or those who do little and want to take more? I'm all for a safety net, just not for taking all the successful people's money to pay for people who want the successful people's money.

Lately as Hillary approaches the throne, I’ve seen all the Clinton Crime Family members re-surfacing, LOL.

Yes. “They” regularly talk amongst themselves and anybody else about their “refund” and how much it will be. Often approaching $4,000 to $5,000. If you were to ask any of them to show you a W-2 where they paid more than that credit they’re getting back, it would likely show a miniscule amount actually paid in for Federal Income Tax.

It’s a joke (redistribution) and they think now they actually contribute to something.

Kodak was selling buggy whips in the digital age. Their foray into the digital world simply wasn’t successful against established electronics makers like Sony.

However, Minolta, Canon etc made the transition smoothly just the same.

What this idiot fails to realize is that what he thinks is new is actually a return to how things were for most of human history.

Machines are serving the role that slaves typically did throughout history.

And the former slaves are now just sitting at home with their X-box collecting welfare for doing nothing.

As long as we as a society refuse to give the former slaves much more than they need to survive, in an effort to be humane, then we CAN and WILL continue on this path for ever. BUT if we listen to this liberal idiot and give them to much the whole economic system will collapse and EVERYONE will then be equally miserable.

“the morons of the world feel entitled to MORE and MORE”

Your’e telling me. I just got off a Facebook thread about the $15 per hour minimum wage that is going into effect In Seattle next month. Apparently a bunch of the restaurants are closing because they can’t afford it. You would not believe these rabid commies and their crazy comments. I could not resist making a comment. It was like the dogs of Hell got loosed. Now I am just having a good time with it. They are so pzzed that I am on their little screed fest refuting some of the their spew.

It really makes you aware of the 41%. They are such bad news. My best friend always laughs and says “well I always tell everyone that you say these are the people who will be in the first die off when the SHTF”

The free market is already redistributing wealth to people via Moore’s Law and technology in general.

Now if we could only get the free market into the education business ...

Anytime these S..tbirds talk about redistributing wealth, it is income they are talking about. Wealth is NOT income, it is a means to amass it. Meanwhile, whenever they talk of increasing the taxes on “the rich” no one points out the income tax on the lowest almost 50% is just about nil. We already have income stealing. When they begin to say, hey Warren B, let’s see, you have something like $40B, so we are going to take it all and make you equal to most of the rest of us, I bet ole Warren would begin talking a different tune, all the way to the gallows.

Somehow these jackasses never manage to redistribute the wealth of the top .002% who, coincidentally, just seem to get richer from these schemes.

A friend, operating from his home in Tucson, recently invented a machine that can find particles of certain elements in the air. He’s already sold hundreds of these machines over the Internet to customers all over the world. He’s manufacturing them in his garage with a 3-D printer.

Leftists love fake stories that fit their narrative. This little anecdote reeks of fake. 3D printers at this point manufacture objects out of plastic. No plastic object is going to be capable of detecting molecules; this requires electronics, circuits, metal. Oh, and throwing in a small specific, like the friend's location being Tuscon, is another tell. It provides an embellishment to the lie. Why not just name the "friend".
