This week, a federal court in Minnesota issued a preliminary ruling in a case concluding that discrimination against an individual because of his gender identity is prohibited under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). In June of 2013, Jakob Tiarnan Rumble, a transgender man, sought treatment at Fairview Southdale Hospital, just outside of Minneapolis. He had a high fever and severe pain in his genitals. During his first day in the Emergency Room and subsequent six days in the hospital, Rumble alleges that he was subject to numerous forms of mistreatment because of his gender identity, including:

She said a doctor didn’t replace his gloves after examining her vagina, then examined her eyes, which gave her an infection, I assume she’s got several STDs.
This exemplifies the total idiocy of modern “gender identification.”
From the story, I gather that the patient, who self-identified as a male, had female sex organs that were very painfully inflamed in some way: possibly something like genital herpes, a Bartholin’s gland abscess, or some other vulvar/cervical/vaginal infection.
The simple answer to this problem is to identify on the medical record BOTH the patient’s BIOLOGICAL SEX (for medical purposes, when sex differences in disease states are important, they almost always depend on genetic sex and not gender identity) and, if applicable, GENDER IDENTITY (likely more important for psycho-social medical problems).
A more difficult problem might actually be WHERE to physically put the patient in the hospital: many patients might object to sharing a room with a transgendered patient. A private room could be authorized for medical purposes, as we do for those on some form of isolation for communicable diseases, but I would expect pushback from both sides.
Reminds me of when my adult-sized son 16 year-old was put on the pediatric service (because he was younger than 18) when he had surgery to repair a shattered clavicle: he was sharing a room with a crying 8 year-old. On Post-Op Day #1, he simply said, “DAD, GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!”
Back in 1997, when I was in nursing school, one of my assigned patients was a man who thought he was a woman.
He was admitted after showing up in the ER with a screwdriver lost in his large colon.
After it was removed, he was admitted to the hospital, and when it was time to do his physical assessment, he refused to let anyone touch him because he had “menstrual cramps” and he had his “period”.
I imagine he would think he was mistreated, too. God help us.

I'll try showing up at the hospital dressed as Jesus, and see if anybody worships me. Good Lord, we've now reached the point where sane people are forced to participate in the delusions of the mentally ill. Such a society isn't long for this world.
An inflamed uterus can be the result of several pathological conditions, including (but not limited to) infection, miscarriage, or induced abortion. In this woman’s case, the inflammation could be a direct result of injuries she has inflicted on herself while trying to force her body to exhibit male characteristics.
The fact that this woman exaggerated being a tomboy to the extent of developing a mental illness about it does not mean that she actually became a man, or that it would be appropriate for medical personnel to provide treatment suited for a man, not a woman.

If it identified itself as a flamingo and a vet clinic refused to treat it, would it win a lawsuit? Probably.
They should have put her(him) to sleep and when she(he) woke told her (him) that there was nothing they could do to save her (his) penis, and they had to cut it off. Then they could proceed as necessary.
I know just the cure for this particular malaise; .357 Federal Hydroshock 158-grain Plus-P right between the eyes. That poor, twisted freak will never whine again.

How is this consistent with the complaint also says the doctor “jabbed at the patient’s inflamed genitals?”
Clearly this inflamation was one of those conditions. And whatever you call the appendages added to this female during her surgical mutilation/transformation, their inflamed condition DOES NOT “affect people of any sex or gender.”
From what I read I don’t think she/he had undergone the “surgery” but was on hormones. I think she/he had the basic female parts but wanted to be examined and treated as if she/he had the male appendages. I’m not sure of any of this as I find it very confusing. I believe he/she should be confined and treated as someone who is self-loathing and is seeking to have themselves mutilated or be self mutilated, it’s a mental illness.

The inmates have taken over the asylum and have determined that this particular mental illness is no longer an illness. Some of us are still lucid and have a degree of sanity left and do regard it as an illness.
I recently had to go to one of our local er’s. After 1 1/2 hrs I left and did a walk in to my doctor’s office. This er used to have an urgent care connected to it and ran very well but they shut the urgent care down.
The er was full of people socialing, hitting the vending machines, and going in and out smoking. In other words there was probably 3 people in there where it was an actual emergency.
I got a follow up call from the hospital a couple of weeks later and I told the guy why I left. He said they see 150 people a day in the er and probably 90% of them shouldn’t be there so they are thinking about reopening the urgent care.
Someone should have told her to “suck it up buttercup” you know the whole “take it like a man” routine and be damn glad they saved her life.
Maybe She-He-It should call in Dr. Pol!
