Sens. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Bob Corker (R-TN) say they will opposed President Obamas attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch.
I will vote against President Obamas nomination of Loretta Lynch for attorney general of the United States, Alexander said in a statement.
He explained that he intends to use his vote against Lynch to protest Obamas executive amnesty.
This is an opportunity, within the Senate rules, to express my disapproval of the presidents abuse of executive authority, and its an opportunity I intend to take, he said.
Corker voiced concern that Lynch would not be independent enough within the administration.
The job of the U.S. attorney general is to enforce federal laws as written, not as the administration wishes they were written, Corker said.
Corker added that although he is impressed by Lynchs resume, he cannot support her.
While I believe Ms. Lynch is an impressive attorney and a committed public servant, nothing revealed during our personal meeting or at her confirmation hearing has assured me that she will be an independent attorney general and refrain from selective enforcement of the law, and therefore I will not be supporting her confirmation, he said.

With McTurd-le in his shell, I’d say yup.
Teddy’s good friend Orrin will vote yea.
Of course. What is Orrin now, 106?
All it will take is four rinos and they have that, fifty, fifty, joe biden is the tie breaker. Too late corker, alexander where were you when we needed you, voting with democrats.
Probably that when all brain function ceased. He looks so natural. Maybe we can find an appropriate hymn.
I still don’t understand why Mitch doesn’t sit on this. He doesn’t have to ever bring it up for a vote.
Then bury him.
I can’t believe these two spineless wimps are going to vote against this Holder wannabe.
Particularly Alexander, since he usually maintains that “a President should be allowed to pick his judges, cabinet members, etc. unless they are patently unqualified.” And, to Alexander, no matter how leftist the candidate, he usually does not find them patently unqualified.
I wonder what is going on here. Like Grahamnesty, these two are usually reliable votes for leftist appointees.
Yeah, it sounds to me like he wants her to be confirmed but enough of us have hammered him, he’s not going to vote for her himself.
I’m so disgusted that we’re stuck with him for 6 more years.
We have others equally bad, like Jeff Flake.
Pretty much. Why would anyone vote to confirm an Attorney General who has openly made it clear she will not enforce the law and has ZERO respect for the constitution, her only aim being to carry out the diktats of the Great Lord Obama?
I have to revise that number. 60 senators must vote to end a filibuster. That’s 45 Rats and 15 RINOs.
Make that 46 Rats and 14 RINOs.
“I wonder what is going on here. Like Grahamnesty, these two are usually reliable votes for leftist appointees.”
That’s why I think there’s an undercurrent going on that isn’t being spoken about. These are Establishment men that move with the winds (especially when an elections coming, but one’s not coming for them).
I think the Amnesty winds are beginning to blow back against it’s supporters. But we’ll see.
Yes, but they apparently are espousing the antiquated idea that Congress is responsible for immigration policy.
Did McConnell rescind Harry Reid’s rule on confirmations?
(Reid lowered the standard to simple majority for confirmation, 60 for legislation)
I am pretty sure he did.
