Bush Says He Has ‘Backbone’ on the Common Core

Jeb Bush, making his first visit to New Hampshire as a likely presidential candidate, implicitly criticized his Republican rivals for the nomination for changing their positions on difficult issues.

Discussing his support for the Common Core education standards, which are viewed unfavorably by many Republicans, Mr. Bush said, “you don’t abandon your core beliefs” just because a position appears unpopular.

“The way I’ve sorted it out is: I think you need to be genuine, I think you need to have a backbone. I think you need to able to persuade people this is a national crisis, this is a national priority,” Mr. Bush told a group of New Hampshire business and education executives.

Time to stick a fork in him....he’s done. Hillary too, although she will fight on a little longer than Jeb (bigger balls)

The Dauphin Bush

Great description. The little one does not have the "aw shucks" charm of mommy, daddy and bro. Jeb's a "let 'em eat cake" kind of guy.

I swallowed my pride and voted for McCain AND Romney, but no more... no more ever again! I’m sick of this crap! It’s Cruz or Walker or nobody.... If he’s the nominee. It is for certain that the Republican party is dead.

Take it to the bank, it’s a dead party walking.

Jebster will be the nominee barring some miracle. The RNC has it worked out to science how to nominate the least popular candidate with the biggest liabilities. See McCain, Romney.

Nothing quite like doubling down on a losing and very unpopular position.

Go Jeb! Kill your own candidacy! LOL.

Common Core’s objective is to ‘equalize’ education for our children. CC was written, because some of our children cannot memorize math facts...so nobody memorizes math facts. Some of our children cannot express words based on English phonics...so nobody learns to read and speak correctly. CC withholds an early academic education from our students who place on the right side of the Bell Curve.

Me neither. If he somehow winds up being the candidate, I’m out of this. I can promise that I will not vote for him.

(Title) :"Bush Says He Has ‘Backbone’ on the Common Core"

Glad to hear it said outrightly by this candidate, as he stated this was one of his 'core values'.
He would rather support the Chamber of Commerce in their support of Common Core, rather than .. 'we the people', his constituants.
At least we know who his "puppetmaster" is
and will vote accordingly !

Jeb Bush has made millions under cutting our education system.

Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education has collected millions of dollars from pro-Common Core organizations — from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the for-profit education giant Pearson

As mentioned in related threads, the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for intrastate schooling purposes. So if low-information prospective presidential candidate Bush wants to implement Common Core within the framework of the Constitution then this is what he needs to do.

Bush must work with federal lawmakers to propose an educatation amendment to the Constituton to the states. And if the states choose to ratify the amendment then the corrupt feds will have the constitutional authority that they need to indoctrinate students with socialistic ideas and Bush will be a hero.

On the other hand, consider Thomas Jefferson’s advice to the states.

"The States should be left to do whatever acts they can do as well as the General Government." --Thomas Jefferson to John Harvie, 1790.

You are right. Anytime someone has to constantly highlight his “manliness” or “backbone” etc me thinks that person is just the opposite.
