DES MOINES, Iowa Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is telling Iowa Republicans and agribusiness leaders that he opposes the federal standard for renewable production, including ethanol.
At a forum focused on agricultural issues on Saturday, Cruz likened the federal renewable fuel standard to "corporate welfare."
Cruz tells the audience of roughly 1,000 that he has "every bit of faith that businesses can continue to compete, continue to do well without going on bended knee to the government."

Cruz just moved up in my opinion poll. Not at the top yet, but he just might be getting there.

I campaigned for him. Worked the phones for him. Donated Money.
Voted for him, needless to say.
AND
I Am Not Disappointed!
After what Bonehead & Turtlehead have done, Cruz is one of the few republicans I trust these days!

Cruz is the best & he sticks to his conservative views. I live in WI & voted for Walker for gov. 3 x but he saw those Iowa farmers and Ag co.execs and caved on removing the ethanol mandate.

Somewhere, Karl Rove is laughing and sneering at Cruz's straightforward news and lack of guile.
Tick, tick, tick, Karl. Wait for it, your time is approaching.

This issue is a very good test of a candidate. Cruz shows he means business. Walker caves.
Consistent with expectations.

Erratum: Spell**cker error for "straightforwardness" [just tried to do it twice more] ..... I'm starting to get really irked with these things.

Yessir...it was Walker or Cruz for me, but Cruz just one the day. It does not make sense to grow corn for fuel and Walker should know that.

Even some of the Greenies are realizing that Ethanol is a bad idea. Uses way more water than other crops, huge energy input to turn it into fuel, and IIRC after all of the processing along the way the CO2 released is a net increase compared to gasoline.
