Being Gay Not a Choice: Science Contradicts Ben Carson

Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon and presidential hopeful, recently apologized for a statement in which he said being gay is "absolutely" a choice.

In an interview on CNN, the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate commented that "a lot of people who go into prison, go into prison straight, and when they come out they're gay, so did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question."

Ben Carson has just created quite a potential mess. By bringing this issue up, it puts it back on the table on federal level. For the current candidates, it could've been left to the states and to the courts, and that's all they had to say.

He should drop out. If he wants to be serious about running for office, he should've started with the HOR, the US Senate, or something on the state or local level.

Exactly. Homosexuality is a label for a cluster of sexual behaviors. Until a person engages in those behaviors at best they are potential homosexuals. If one assumes that there is such a thing as individual free will then. with the exception of rape, one must make a conscious choice to engage in that behavior.

Before I went away to military school I did not like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. When there was nothing else I liked eating, I learned.

I believe that a vast majority of homos are born that way. I have worked with plenty of them.

It doesn’t mean I want them married in the church. It means that I think there is something we might not have found in their hard wiring that “causes” this in the womb. Either some hormone is out of whack or something the a genetic combination.

I think Carson is way off base, and addresses this way to simply. As a doctor, he knows better.

What is worse: A lib dem trying to advance the gay agenda for his votes, or a conservative playing to the ignorance of many to garner his votes.

I suggest, as I have for months now, that they are the same animal. They are “Hack-Dem” and “Hack-Rep” and they are trained by the consultant class. ‘

And we should get rid of all of them.

What some man does with his penis (except on children of course) in their own bedroom is none of my business. The world is going to hell, and we are getting “worked up” over this stupid stuff.

Sensual taste is a matter of acquisition.

There is no such thing as homosexual... or heterosexual for that matter. Those are the wrong divisions. There is only human sexuality and that can manifest itself in ways that are normal or perverted.

While it is possible that one may or may not have a choice on one’s preferences (and I’m not conceding that it is), one always have a choice on one’s actions. Since this behavior is defined by action, it is a choice.

Furthermore, if one cannot control his impulses, this is a sign of a more serious mental problem.

Since humans CANNOT reproduce homosexually, there CANNOT be a gene that is passed on by homosexuals because it would have been diluted and eliminated long ago.

Can I offer an anecdote? I teach in an urban, low income public high school. The majority of our homosexual students are black or biracial, which is interesting considering how the black community feels about homosexuals. All, not some, of these homosexual students were molested as children. Apparently it's a “thing” for black men to have sex with tweens and young teens. It's considered part of their “culture.” As for the homosexual males, they were sold to men for mom's drug money. Sick.

Personally, I believe that homosexuality is a learned behavior that occurs very early in life, sometimes as the result of sexual abuse by adults or other children, other times as a result of children doing things that children have been known to do at young ages.

I am also not opposed to the idea that some people are born gay or with other different perceptions about their sexuality, though I do also believe that if this was the cause of homosexuality, then and common gene would be identifiable, but so far, that has not happened.

I also do not care what people do in their bedrooms. I am not going to go out and be mean to gay people. I have nothing against them. if a person is nice to me, I’ll be nice to them.

I do not support gay marriage though, and I do not support the tactics that have been used to force it upon us. If someone doesn’t want to participate in or recognize your marriage, leave them alone.
