The Clinton Foundation will get new leadership in the form of longtime Clinton ally and former Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala as it continues to face ongoing questions about its foreign fundraising practices, former President Bill Clinton announced in Coral Gables, Florida on Friday.
The news of Shalala’s new role comes as the foundation has caused all-but-certain 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton some political trouble in the final weeks before her expected campaign roll-out. Republicans have latched onto reports that the foundation resumed accepting money from foreign governments after Clinton left the State Department in 2013 — a policy which the organization said it would review if Clinton pursues the White House — and to her use of a personal email address as Secretary of State.
And the foundation has also come under scrutiny with the swift departure of CEO Eric Braverman, a close ally of Chelsea Clinton.
Additionally, it was discovered that the foundation had accepted donations from companies that were simultaneously lobbying the U.S. government while Clinton was working as secretary of state.....
In choosing Shalala, the Clintons tapped an official with significant management experience — she also served in top roles at Hunter College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison — and a reputation for not being a rubber-stamp after opposing Bill Clinton’s welfare law when he was president.
But she has also been helpful for Hillary Clinton, hosting her at a friendly appearance in Coral Gables in February 2014 as Clinton was gaining momentum as a presidential hopeful.?
Hillary Clinton and Shalala, who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008 by President George W. Bush, served on the board of the Children’s Defense Fund for years together.

When “Guccifer” (who was later identified as Marcel Lazar Lehel) breached Blumenthal’s account, he discovered an assortment of correspondence sent to Hillary Clinton at the e-mail address hdr22@clintonemail.com. The “clintonemail.com” domain was registered in 2009, shortly after her nomination to become Secretary of State.
While Blumenthal, a longtime Hillary Clinton confidant, used her private e-mail to send personal messages (like a get well note after she fell at home and suffered a concussion in December 2012), he also forwarded the Cabinet member a series of “Confidential” memos about foreign policy matters.
The “For: Hillary, From: Sid” memos, provided to TSG by “Guccifer,” address a wide range of topics in global flashpoints like Algeria, Turkey, Mali, and Libya. Blumenthal also provided Clinton with information about the European Central Bank, the Georgia elections, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The memos to Clinton carried titles like “Comprehensive Intel Report on Libya,” and included all-cap warnings that, “THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION COMES FROM EXTREMELY SENSITIVE SOURCES AND SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH CARE.” Blumenthal has not held a public post since leaving his White House job in January 2001.
June 22, 2000: Hillary Clinton and the Third Way "........The focus of Hillary Clinton's ambition is not her country. But it is not just herself either. It is also a place that does not exist. It is the vision of a world that can only be achieved when the Chosen accumulate enough power to change this one.
That is why Hillary and Sid Blumenthal, her fawning New Left Machiavelli, call their own political philosophy the politics of "The Third Way." This distinguishes it from the "triangulation" strategy Dick Morris used to resurrect Bill Clinton's presidency. Morris guided Clinton, in appropriating specific Republican policies towards a balanced budget and welfare reform as a means of securing his re-election. Hillary Clinton was on board for these policies, and in that sense is a triangulator herself. But "triangulation" is too merely tactical and too morally crass to define a serious political philosophy. Above all, it fails to project the sense of promise that intoxicates the imaginations of self-styled "progressives." That is why Hillary and Sid call their politics "The Third Way."
"The Third Way" is a familiar term from the lexicon of the left with a long and dishonorable pedigree in the catastrophes created by messianic socialists in the 20th Century. It is the most ornate panel in the tapestry of deception I described at the beginning of this essay.
In the 1930s, Nazis used "The Third Way" to characterize their own brand of national socialism as a equidistant between the "internationalist" socialism of the Soviet Union and the capitalism of the West. Trotskyists used "The Third Way" as a term to distinguish their own Marxism from Stalinism and capitalism. In the 1960s, New Leftists used "The Third Way" to define their politics as an independent socialism between the Soviet gulag and America's democracy.
But as the history of Nazism, Trotskyism and the New Left have shown, there is no "Third Way." There is the capitalist, democratic way based on private property and individual rights—a way that leads to liberty and universal opportunity. And there is the socialist way of group identities, group rights, a relentless expansion of the political state, restricted liberty and diminished opportunity. The Third Way is not a path to the future. It is just the suspension between these two destinations. It is a bad faith attempt on the part of people who are incapable of giving up their socialist schemes to escape the taint of their discredited past."....
That problem is Hansjorg Wyss, a controversial financial benefactor of John Podesta who reportedly will leave his position as senior counselor to Obama in order to manage Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. Podesta would be an obvious candidate for White House chief of staff in a Hillary Clinton presidency. Palmieri is reportedly slated to be communications director for the campaign.
Palmieri and Podesta are long-time allies, having both served in the Obama and Clinton administrations in key positions. They are also both former top executives of the Center for American Progress that Podesta founded in 2003. The liberal think tank is a fertile source of ideas and talking points for Democrats........
Wyss is a reclusive Swiss billionaire who is among the center's biggest contributors and is a member of its board of directors.He is also the former head of Synthes, a corporation that conducted illegal human drug trials that resulted in the deaths of three people. As the Washington Examiner reported last July, four of Wyss's executives at the corporation served jail terms as a result of the illegal trials. The federal judge who heard the case said the company's "pattern of deception is unparalleled."
Podesta, Palmieri and Wyss have been financially linked for years. The center received $4.1 million from Wyss during Podesta's tenure as the liberal nonprofit’s founding president and chief executive officer. When Podesta joined the Obama White House, he listed on his financial disclosure form an $87,000 consulting fee he received from Wyss's private foundation, the HJW Foundation....... "

The billing records for some of her work as a lawyer in Arkansas were subpoenaed in the investigation of the Clintons’ Whitewater land deal. The papers were missing for nearly two years before the Clintons said they had unexpectedly turned up in a storage area in the residential portion of the White House.
Clinton was called to testify about the billing records before a federal grand jury — an inauspicious first for a first lady.
Her name also was sometimes caught up in the ethics and legal controversies during the Clinton presidency that culminated in Bill Clinton’s impeachment on perjury and obstruction of justice charges in the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

One day ahead of Hillary's appearance at the Clinton Global Initiative University Conference, which is being held at UM's Coral Gables campus, her husband addressed hundreds of students at the event. Outgoing UM President Donna Shalala introduced President Clinton as "my friend, the Supreme Guardian of the Galaxy.".....
.....Students attending the conference said they are excited at the opportunity to see the Clintons in person and downplayed the controversy surrounding Hillary. "I feel like some people are entitled to their privacy," said UM student Kelsey St. Edward.
"I mean, I don't think she did it on purpose," said University of South Florida student Colleen Naughton. "It's just like this kind of loophole that they're catching her in. Benghazi and Libya were more of a big deal, but they're just scrounging for any sort of issues."
"It's unfortunate right now that they're bringing it up, because I feel like she is one of the top candidates, and I think that's why a lot of the other candidates who are potential runners are using this against her at this moment," said University of Houston student Kevin Kwok.
The conference is taking place amid reports that Shalala, the former Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Clinton, has been tapped to head the Clinton Foundation. Bill Clinton confirmed the reports at Friday night's event. "I intend to recommend to our Board of Directors, with the full support of Hillary and Chelsea, that she be named the president and chief executive officer of the Clinton Foundation," he said as Shalala stood by his side.
Shalala will be leaving UM later this year. The Clinton Global Initiative's Board of Directors will have to approve her appointment."
