Republicans, fresh from landslide victories in congressional, state, and local elections, were well-positioned to flex their newfound muscle by re-establishing constitutional checks and balances on an overzealous executive branch. Instead, Senate Majority Leader McConnell folded like a cheap suit, abandoning efforts to defund President Obamas amnesty efforts. Tell me again why we need Republican majorities in Congress.
Why cant Senator McConnell trigger the same nuclear option now? What about Obamacare? It remains alive and well despite Republican promises to repeal and replace. The latest excuse from Republican leadership is that they need the White House before they can accomplish anything. Really? What the Republicans need is backbone and leadership. Ronald Reagan ushered in hugely effective income tax cuts while working with a Democrat Congress.
Margaret Thatcher told us, Consensus is the absence of leadership. If the Republican leadership is waiting for consensus with the Democrats, that will never happen. Rather, they should be making their case, standing by their principles and promises, and fulfilling the mandate they were given last November. Republican voters dont expect victory with each issue, but they do expect a principled stand and a fight, not a concession at the end of the first quarter. Let the president wield his veto pen. Congress has given him next to nothing to veto.
Giving in to Democrat opposition, as they have done with amnesty, debt ceilings, continuing spending resolutions, and other line in the sand issues leaves voters to scratch their heads, wondering whats different having Congress under Republican control.
If Republican voters believe, to borrow from Mrs. Clinton, What difference does it make?, they will stay home again in 2016. The Republican Congress, as evidenced by the amnesty capitulation, is doing little to help.

So far, there isn’t a Republican in this state for whom I am going to vote in 2016. Rep Collins and Sen. Isakson are dead to me. It remains to be seen about the Presidential vote.
There is only one logical explanation: Blackmail! Republican congressional critters are just as decadent as Rats and the Rats have the proof.
They could have easily won. Each time the House passes a bill, the Senate can use a 51 vote majority to force 0bama to sign or veto. They could still do this. That’s what Reid and the dems would do of course.
That could and still should happen at least daily.
It isn’t really important whether he vetos or not. We just have to try to stop him. We’re NOT EVEN TRYING.
Boehner should be gone - he’s the dem leader.
McConnell should be gone - he’s being run by Reid.
Time after time after time... forfeit early. They really aren’t even trying.
In just the last 6 months... cromibus and amnesty forfeits. Do they not think they’re supposed to stop 0bama?
And as early as today the Congress could take up the strategy of stopping 0bama by forcing him to sign or veto republican bills. Just don’t even bring dem bills up. That’s what dems would do and did do to us.
Why o why Repubs? Why indeed do we need you.
Primary primary primary
i’m sending money to primaries all over the US.
oh yeah forgot to mention...
when the judge(s) finally rule on exec amnesty, do you think they’ll consider that Congressional approval is evident via the full funding of DHS?
Of course they will. That will seal it.
We have many senate Republicans possibly running for president. They have town halls and meetings. Ask them this question. Why no nuclear option?
the only thing worth voting for are selected people who happen to be in the GOP.
In my case, it is Louie Gohmert and Ted Cruz
Precisely what I told DH last night...it’s not money, it’s blackmail!
I don't see any potential for even that saving the US. There has to be a third party before anything positive can happen, and it will have to be a USA-first anti globalist party. Such a party will not emerge until the US has some kind of economic and/or social breakdown.
It will be interesting to see if any real anger is ewhibited by those who are supposed to be the real constitutional conservatives in the HOR and US Senate. They have to break all ties with the leadership or they're part of the problem.
We need to get every last GOPe politician out of there seats and replace them with conservatives
No time to build an effective one. Need to change the one we have. The foundation is there to do it.
Why Vote? Our situation is past the ballot box.
Every bit as deserving of a hanging or shooting as the Democrats. Yet, so many will foolishly line up and vote for these traitors endlessly hoping they will forestall the demise of this once great republic.
There is on one explanation: They are the go along to get along party.
They pander to special interests that in return, enrich their individual and party coffers. The little guy is simply a “pain in the ass” that comes with the territory.
Waiting isn't working, because most politicians no longer have convictions they had to take risk for. The majority of them are enveloped by the DC smog before things can change. A principled third party would give them away to stick together and articulate their values.
The Republican Party is OVER!
Vote, but vote for Hillary, a $100/hr minimum wage, 97% tax rates and forcing Catholics to provide abortions. The sooner this Evil Empire collapses, the better.
Go Galt!
When Republicans get elected to office and go to Washington, they end up being harassed endlessly by liberals. Everything they do is criticized; they are called mean-spirited and heartless with every act.
I think, in part, we can see in them the normal behavior of victims of bullying everywhere. Bullies convince their victims that they really deserve every abuse the bully heaps on them. This then leads to Stockholm syndrome, where the victims sympathize with their abusers.
We should take the politicians out of Washington. Instead of sending them there to live among the bullies, let them stay in their own states. They can debate and vote by video conference, and otherwise be surrounded by the people whom they are supposed to represent. This could give them the emotional strength they need to stand up against powerful liberal bullies.
Anyone, where I can I find a vote by vote breakdown for the Congresscritters?
Thanks,
Oldplayer
The establishment GOP had already crowned McLame and then four years later, Rombot, by the time of the Indiana primaries.
Why vote Republican?
Are they going to be serving up a heapin’ helpin’ of JEB this time?
Why vote at all?
OK, last fall I voted straight GOP ticket. But now I’m done.
Both Harry Reid and McConnell are multi-millionaires. I believe the figure used here for Yertle was 20 million.
On a “public servant’s” salary.
So they need SEIU and the US Chamber’s “support’ as well as my vote?
And they are overly vainly concerned about the opinion of Democrats and their MSM.
They urge us to “not joist at windmills” when we say Obama’s credentials should be examined. “This is not the fight” when we want to fight the statists—in either party.
However, come late summer of every election year, you see their sycophants here urging us that, “The perfect is the enemy of the good” and all of their other lame rationalizations for perpetuating Uniparty.
“Swallow your vomit,” they say. “One more time .... “
One more time. I’m done with the Grand Old Party.
Better yet, force them to answer why we need GOP.
We have a one party dictatorship in this country. If you cannot name your enemy, you have lost the war.
