MONTREUX, Switzerland (Reuters) - Iran on Tuesday rejected as "unacceptable" U.S. President Barack Obama's demand that it freeze sensitive nuclear activities for at least 10 years but said it would continue talks on a deal, Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reported.
Iran laid out the position as the U.S. and Iranian foreign ministers met for a second day of negotiations and as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a stinging critique of the agreement that they are trying to work out.
Iran's Mohammed Javad Zarif and the United States' John Kerry met a day after Obama told Reuters that Iran must commit to a verifiable halt of at least 10 years on sensitive nuclear work for a landmark atomic deal to be reached.
"Iran will not accept excessive and illogical demands," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was quoted as saying by Fars.
"Obamas stance ... is expressed in unacceptable and threatening phrases ... ," he reportedly said, adding that talks with Kerry in Switzerland would nonetheless carry on.

Kerry in particular sooooo wants a deal on something, because he thinks himself a brilliant diplomat, but he'll get nothing, no middle-east peace process, no Iran deal. He'll be totally forgotten...and it will kill him! He'll blame Netanyahu for all of it.
That would be not blame, that would be credit.
Sur-prize
Su- prize!
I feel the same way. Bibi should get all the credit for killing a freighting deal with Iran.
Right, but the most frightening thing is we are being governed by people whose perceptions are not based on reality.
El Bozo will take a play from Boehner’s Playbook for Losers and surrender before they walk away. Their symbol is a white flag.
Oh, I agree. I was just looking at it from their point of view.
Israel AND Iran agree on something....that it is a bad deal!!!
Obama: “Would five years be acceptable? How about four? Ok, three but that’s where I draw a red line.”
I wouldn’t finalize an agreement with Obama either if I were Iran. As we’ve seen with the Palistinians, when dealing with Barky you just stall, complain, act outraged and keep upping the ante and Obama will go right along. No muslim country has ever had to make a single concession when dealing with this administration. They just take.
10 years too long?
How about 5 years? No?
How about 1 year? No?
Ok, if you promise not to build a nuclear bomb in the next 24 hours we’ll lift all sanctions. And we’ll give all Iranians a social security card and tax refunds for three years.
Good. Obama’s “deal” sucked. Let a real leader handle it.
Is it possible all this today was for show?
No doubt about that and you are right it is very frightening
We basically have a President playing house in the White House.
Obama’s response:
Okay we will just take that out; tell you what; how about I just give you all the Nukes you want, I’m getting rid of all we have in the U.S. anyway.
I really don’t think there is much to talk about. Either we agree to Iran building a bomb, or we don’t agree and they do it anyway.
PS:
Before you go nuts on the last comment, I should have put in “unless we stop them by military means.” And I think it will have to come to that. I really don’t want those nuts to have a bomb.
