Scott Walker wants you to know he now opposes amnesty even as he says he supports a policy that amounts to amnesty.

No surprise there.
So for those hopeful immigrants waiting in line and spending thousands of dollars on immigration attorneys, just cross the border already, pay your fine and get over it.
“granted a pathway to citizenship in exchange for paying a financial penalty.”
That’s not what he said. He didn’t say a financial penalty.
Scotty, sharpen your message and be consistent. You’re in the Big Leagues now. Don’t let this chance slip away so early in the game.
As the County Executive in Milwaukee County, Walker supported the Bush-McCain Amnesty in 2006.
In 2013, Walker publicly supported a “path to citizenship” for illegals.
I don't believe his claim about changing his mind.
If he becomes the GOP nominee, I will leave that election box blank.
The interviewer said “pay penalties”. What other kind did you have in mind? Five Our Fathers and six Hail Marys? Most would assume the penalties would be financial. We don’t give out 40 lashes anymore either.
Weinstein is an amnesty shill himself.
Conservatives ought to get out front on this. We need to secure our borders, but also figure out a humane way to deal with the millions of illegal immigrants in the country. On this issue, Democrats and Republicans should be able to work together and get a deal done for the good of the country. As for President Obama, if he focused his energy on trying to build consensus on an issue like immigration instead of burning down the house with a nomination like Chuck Hagel, perhaps he would accomplish something good and lasting.
“but also figure out a humane way to deal with the millions of illegal immigrants in the country”
Hey I got it....we build an amusment park in Texas by the border.....give out free tickets to all the illegals....
Then sling shot their asses back home.
Sounds like Rove is holding out the BIG BUCKS for him, if he behaves properly.
The Daily Caller seems to be firmly in Jeb’s camp this cycle. They are piling on everyone else.
Walker sounds very good so far.
There is still a lot of time to decide, but he is definitely on my radar.
Top 5 contender.
You make a good point, and I agree with you.
I do not consider a person to be guilty of “flip-flopping” unless they change their mind on an issue more than once, and seemingly in accordance with public opinion, polling, their target audience, etc.
Seeming to be a bit wishy-washy on a major issue is not a good thing, but I’m still willing to give Walker a chance to prove himself to me.
Also, I seriously doubt that a “[Insert Politically-Correct Color HERE]-Knight” candidate is going to come along with whom I am 100% in agreement on all issues.
At this point I’m willing to settle for >85%(+/-) agreement on the issues I consider important: The Constitution, Smaller government, National Defense, Economy, Immigration, Education, The Constitution... I’m sure I’ll think of a couple others after I post this.
I see what you did there, Weinstein. You took a quote from him before he changed his stance and then added your own supposition to the end of it.
Enforce the laws on the books then the illegals will repatriate themselves. It’s not rocket science. It’s not nuanced, it is straight forward.
No he didn’t the quote is current. You must have misread.
Walker is pro-amnesty.
WASHINGTON Republican Sen. Rand Paul said Tuesday that illegal immigrants should be
allowed to become U.S. taxpayers and ultimately get a shot at citizenship, a significant
step for the Tea Party favorite amid growing Republican acceptance of the idea.
"Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport" the millions
already here, the potential 2016 presidential candidate told the U.S. Hispanic Chamber
of Commerce. "Prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing
these workers out of the shadows and into becoming and being taxpaying members of society."
