Fellow Republicans, you are sadly mistaken if you believe that the results of the November 2014 elections are a sign from the American people that the coast is clear to continue operating as you have in the past. You should not read into the results as predictive of the 2016 presidential elections. If you want to avoid a very short-lived honeymoon at the top you will have to govern in accordance with the realities that exist in America today. One of those realities is that the prohibition of gay marriage is a form of discrimination that our court system is finally getting around to correcting. The unquestioned fact is that the government provides benefits to married couples, and because gays cannot marry they cannot avail themselves of those benefits - that is discrimination on its face. This message is not about insisting that you accept homosexuality in your personal life; that would be un-American. My case is that we welcome gays into the legal institution of marriage because to continue to fight against it is contrary to spirit of our Constitution.

My first thought, as well. I guess Salon was just too busy to take his call.
I’m always a little suspicious of “Pro Gay Marriage Heterosexual Republicans” who go by the handle, Christian Caballero. It just don’t sound right. I grew up watching the Three Gay Caballeros on TV.
He could have tried Mother Jones, or The Nation.
Not buying the BS,the guy sounds like a Dem plant.
RINO alert! Another GOPe, Democrat plant telling us to follow the same losing formula of being moderate on social issues so we can attract more voters, and if we don’t we’ll lose at the polls. Stuff it Christian! Being Democrat-lite never wins. These RINO idiots never learn but I suspect many of these people are closet Democrats anyways.
Nonsense. Pure unadulterated nonsense.
You lie.
There is no law that says a homosexual can not marry.
There are laws that says you can only marry another human of the opposite sex, who is not closely related to you by blood, who is of age of maturity and is of sound mind.
These laws apply to all, homosexual, asexual, bisexual and heterosexual.
There is nothing discriminatory about that.
What you want is to carve out little exceptions for certain people.
THAT, honey child, is discriminatory.
So go weep and repent in sackcloth and ashes you bigot!
Baloney.
Gays can marry, but two men and two women cannot since a marriage is male and female.
Look at the really famous gay male who married a woman, got all the tax breaks the writer discussed, and two girls out of the deal. And he can still play with the other gender as much as he wants to.
My first thought
- F*ck you
Noted.
Now, the Gay Caballero can dry up and blow away.
And “my” message to pro-homo marriage Republicans: “Die, you degenerate scumbags.”
“Republican”
That explains it.
Uh, yeah, I always consult the Huffington Post and a sodomite on questions of morality....that’s the ticket...
Bush 2016! Hat trick F yeah!
Never mind what God says, i guess. Oh, i forgot - He got kicked out.
Unfortunately, my concern has gone from opposing gay marriage to just hoping that opponents of gay marriage can stay out of jail, avoid draconian fines, and keep their businesses.
