Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is not a fan of his Democratic colleagues' "disturbing" unwillingness to criticize President Barack Obama's executive actions that protected undocumented immigrants from deportation.
"It's very interesting. Democratic senators privately will admit all sorts of things," Cruz mused during a Newsmax TV interview published Monday. "But it's really disturbing: Democratic senators have been unwilling to stand up to this president, really on almost anything."
Cruz, a likely 2016 presidential contender, compared this alleged slavishness to Obama to how Republicans reacted when one of their own, former President Richard Nixon, was in the middle of the 1972 Watergate scandal.
"We've had presents in the past who have abused power. But when that has happened: When Richard Nixon abused power, Republican senators stood up to him and said, 'Mr. President, you've gone too far.' In fact, it was Republican senators who went to the Oval Office, … and said, 'Mr. President, it's time for you to resign,'" Cruz recalled. "What is strikingly missing are Democratic senators who have more commitment to the Constitution and rule of law than they do to their party."
Newsmax anchor John Bachman pointed out to Cruz that Democratic senators today would likely say Obama's controversies are not on the same scale as Watergate...

He couldn’t shine Nixon’s shoes.
Oh, he could, but he’d do a half-assed, lazy and incomplete job on that like everything else. And since he doesn’t know $#*+ from Shinola, I’d be worried about my shoes.

That's true. When I found out Nixon was lying to me I wanted him out. When Clinton lied under oath the RATs supported him to the end. Obama harms America and they refuse to see it.
If only Nixon would have had a Crystal Ball. If only he could have seen how to get away with Watergate....
At the the onset of the scandal, Tricky Dick should have created a completely new scandal. And as outrage began to escalate over that new and different scandal, he should have moved to develop yet another mind boggling “you gotta be sh**ing me” scandal.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat. On a weekly basis. Till the public is so overloaded with lies, crimes, scandals, and other acts of one who hates America, that NOTHING could be done to stop it.
Imagine if - in 1970 - Nixon would have had Communist operatives working freely in the White House. Imagine even if Nixon himself WAS a Communist and weekly quoted Commie dogma.
Nixon had 18 missing Oval Office minutes.
Obola had 11 missing Benhazi hours.
You do have a point that comparing Obama to a Leftist Boogeyman will make heads explode.
But he is a mix of Carter, Wilson and Castro to me.
Richard Nixon was a victim of the media just like Sarah Palin and all the others. He was unlovable but not a bad man. And, he never got rich in office. The worst thing he was, was not conservative.
Excellent points. Cruz is sharp. He knows what he’s doing and is going to be more effective by the day.
He’s putting them on defense, big time.

I just remember he and kennedy debating without either one stuttering, or having difficulty pulling facts and figures, unlike our politicians fifty years hence.
Nicely crafted trap on Ted’s part. Of course, libs will deem his comparison as racist or something.
