The Supreme Court this June could cut off millions of Americans from affordable Obamacare coverage. The response from the nations governors gathering in Washington this week was an assortment of shrugs.
POLITICO interviewed more than a dozen governors, from both parties, this weekend at the National Governors Association winter meeting. Most said theyre in a wait-and-see zone. The Supreme Court will hear arguments next week, the decision is likely in late June and no one can foretell how the court will rule on its second major case that could strike at the heart of the presidents signature health law.
For some Republican governors it was a shrug of indifference. They say the onus falls on President Barack Obama and Congress to figure out what to do if the Supreme Court invalidates Affordable Care Act subsidies in their states. And if Obamacare falls apart, well, they say, good riddance.
For others among them potential 2016 contenders Scott Walker of Wisconsin and John Kasich of Ohio its a shrug of uncertainty. Wisconsins own state health program for certain low-income people relies on the federal exchange, and Walker called for the feds to come up with at least a short-term fix. Kasich says hes working on contingency plans to protect people in his state, but he hasnt said what that would look like, or how hed pay for it.
The Obamacare opponents behind King argue that subsidies are illegal in 34 states using HealthCare.gov instead of running their own insurance exchanges. A ruling against the White House could abruptly halt financial assistance to roughly seven million of the people who signed up through the federal exchange this year.

The Supreme Court this June could cut off millions of Americans from affordable Obamacare coverageLOL! The law itself does that, and its going to do it to millions more too.
Then my medical insurance is back to normal hopefully .....
So what? It isn't like they would be cut off from needed healthcare (unless Øbongocare has so damaged the healthcare system that it can't go back to what used to work).
I've been thinking the same thing. What's the difference between getting subsidized Medicaid thru Obamacare, getting Medicaid from the state, or just showing up at the emergency room? In all cases, the taxpayers foot the bill--the figleaf of calling it insurance doesn't change the situation.
Don’t worry Obamabots, they wouldn’t dare.
Remember, The Law is for suckers.
The question should be, what happens if the only Drug Dealer in town gets arrested after you get hooked on Heroin?
The boy king will stomp is feet and hold his breath or whip out his mighty pen to draft another binding memo.
Well, if obamacare is out, then we’ll just have to go all the way to single-payer gov’t. supplied healthcare. We obviously can’t reverse the clock and go backwards.
Really, they can’t lose. If obamacare works (unlikely) they win. If it doesn’t work, they will call for single-payer. If it is declared illegal, they will call for single payer.
They won’t. This USSC will affirm Obamacare, amnesty and fag marriage.
“The Supreme Court this June could cut off millions of Americans from affordable Obamacare coverage.”
Got a bit of a chuckle out of that one.
the obammmma will issue executive orders declaring the supreme court as racist,,he will dissolve it too since no one is holding him accountable..
LOL. Protect them from what?
Not being able to steal other people's money?
One thing we have already done in Michigan is pass a law to allow people pay to retain doctors and receive basic medical care without insurance.
If this were to happen (it won't), the problem does not lie with the Supreme Court, it lies with the legislature, and in particular, the Democrats.
It's their turd, let them enjoy the taste for a change.
Then the kids at the bkopto household will be setting off holdover mortars and other sundry fireworks from the 4th of July.
Why ask the Feds to change the law and keep trying to revive a dead horse?
The law is supposed to be settled according to the DemRats, so let them suffer
the outrage of Americans over an Unconstitutional Law in the first place.
And since it's a Tax, isn't Congress supposed to hold the reins?
And, Why didn't you say Congress and instead said, Feds?
I'm very confused here Walker, by your response.
I agree. Whatever they had on Roberts the first time has not changed.
“Kasich says hes working on contingency plans to protect people in his state”
Kasich is the modern-day equivalent of Earl Warren. He’s such a disappointment. He’s simply RAT Lite now!
