A few weeks ago, the US Central Command announced that an air raid had killed an ISIS chemical weapon expert in Mosul. The ISIS operative, Iraqi engineer Mahmoud al-Sabawi, used to work at Saddam Husseins chemical weapons program before he joined al-Qaeda in Iraq after the 2003 US led invasion.
The idea that ISIS terrorists have access to chemical weapons brings back images of the genocide inflicted on the Kurds by Saddam Hussein in the late 1980s. The Halabja Massacre killed up to 5,000 and injured between 7,000 and 10,000 more.
If ISIS jihadists have a stash of chemical weapons, they wont hesitate to use them on the Kurdish people or anyone else who has challenged their authority. Since President Obama has just asked Congress to for additional war powers to fight ISIS, it is important to know if the enemy has such weapons.
ISISs chemical weapons aspiration dates back to the very early roots of the group. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the late Jordanian terrorist and the founder of ISIS predecessor organization al-Qaeda in Iraq was very interested in acquiring chemical weapons and using poisons in terrorist attacks.

Iraq has no WMDs, doncha know.
Well.............not anymore.
I thought that chemical weapons were ‘illegal’ and that the full power of the United Nations Members would be brought upon anyone who uses them.
Lol. The same newspaper that called Bush a liar for claiming there were WMD in Iraq. You can not make this stuff up!
There’s no doubt these ISIS terrorists will use WMD if they have them, and we have people in 0bama’s administration saying not to kill these savages, give them employment. *shaking head*
Or they kept saying Saddam and his buddies did not have ties to terror, but look at them now... Same thing with Obama.
That’s exactly right. The US press said so. So how in the world could ISIS have a chemical engineer from Saddam’s Iraq with chem weapon expertise? Impossible!
SH in Iraq had many chemical weapons. Many of which were run into hiding in Syria, and probably other places, when the US attack was obvious. This is no surprise. ISIS will do whatever it wants without any fear of meaningful consequences (military might - all they understand).
Total lack of US leadership, will, and dedication to stopping genocide will lead to many more deaths, from various causes. The US needs a true President badly.
I’m sure that is another red line.
I hear there are some great job openings in the chemical weapons factories. I have it on good authority that those high-paying jobs will tamp down their violent tendencies.
But, but, we were told that Syria used chemical weapons against their citizens and that no terrorist group in the region had chemical weapons or the knowledge to make them..
The media and John Kerry wouldn’t lie to us again, would they?
Probably would have known this almost a decade ago if the Bush Administration hadn’t caved to the Dims over keeping the captured Iraqi documents in the first public domain.
There are no chemical weapons - the DEMOCRATS told us it was all a George Bush lie.
I am against sending any US troops to Iraq to die for Obama.
deep in the article .”With the fall of massive areas in northern and western Iraq, ISIS was able to control a key area north of Baghdad that used to produce chemical weapons under Saddam. However, the site was empty. The UN inspection teams had destroyed and cleared the site completely from the industrial tools and the main materials that could be used to make chemical or biological weapons, according to the UN teams reports.”
Nah can’t be..we have been told over and over and over again that Bush lied, those critters don’t have chemical weapons
