I am curious....no snark intended....if it’s her only source of communication how do you know she lost it?
Perhaps she (or you) can call her carrier. They might be able to help her get a new phone.
In the meantime, prayers for your daughter’s safety and relief for your anxiety. The situation has to be stressful for both of you.
I’ll pray for her strength in accepting God’s will.
I certainly add my prayers to any parent’s whose child is far away and out of touch with those contacts that are concerned.
I know how it is, we worry more than they do. Prayers for you both.
Prayer sent up for Hayley’s safety. Don’t believe God much cares about her phone, but He does love her. If He has reason for her to find the phone, it will be found, if He has reason for it not being found, it won’t be found. If He really doesn’t care, it’s a toss-up.
“My daughter is overseas and lost her phone.”
It depends on where she is overseas. You might want to pray for he life and safety while she looks for her phone. The
miracle may be her safe return home.
Do they sell phones where she is? Buy one
and continue with whatever her purpose was.
I hope she had the phone password protected, otherwise her personal information is at risk. If she can’t find it soon, she needs to have her carrier disable it and go out right away and get a new phone.
I lost my phone in Dubai. It fell out of my pocket in a taxi and by the time I realized it was missing, the cab was long gone.
***THE FIRST THING SHE NEEDS TO DO*** is contact her provider and tell them she lost her phone. That way, they can suspend service. This needs to happen immediately.
Using her passport, she can then do what I did; go buy a cheap, pay by the minute phone for communication while she's traveling or until her provider can get a replacement phone mailed to her.
I found a guys phone on a beach one time and was able to get it back to him. Fortunately it was not locked and it had a charge. I called one of his contacts and said “hi, this is going to sound stupid, but do you know who I am? I mean, do you have caller id?” We got a good laugh and we’re able to meet with the young man within the hour.
The good news is she can get an unlocked phone, with service, for 20 bucks. Unlike the US ‘Asia’ makes cell phones as easy to get as a bottle of water.
God is big enough to handle everything that is going on and help your daughter. I will pray with you. I am sorry for the unkind responses. Sometimes people consider God from only their own point of view which is understandable but God says For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.” Isaiah 55:8
Oh Lord, please help young Hayley find her phone. Amen.
...but also you could buy one here from her carrier ..activated and send it to her at where she staying or ever at the shippers office.. fed ex or some other
or ever send airline counter to counter...go to the airport and ship with the airline.. then she picks up from the airline at the airport where she is
.... ive done a lot of travel for business... its a daily thing in business to ship overnight out the country... also really people travel way before their had cell phones.. use landlines to call....but if she has her computer and internet access. just skype..it cheaper
Prayers...
God bless
Prayers up for your daughter.
Prayers that she find refuge in the Lord, and her phone, too. Also blessing of safe travels.
Ignore the unkind attacks posted here. They don’t matter.
Some years ago I got home one evening from work and realized my cell phone was not in my purse. I searched my car but to no avail. I had made a couple of stops along the way but couldnt call any of the stores because my cell phone was and still is my only phone, having ditched my land line several years before that and not regretting it, but even so, losing my cell phone was and is a pretty big deal as if I had some sort of emergency, a medical emergency or a fire in my apartment, I would have no way to call for help.
I logged into my cellular providers website (I had Sprint back then) and was able to subscribe for a 30 day free trial subscription, a find my phone service. It was a service that would also allow a parent to ping the location of a childs phone and or the child. I didnt even need to have an app installed on my phone to use it and in fact at the time I didnt even have a smart phone.
What the service did was ping my phone and it returned a map with a location, accurate within about less than a quarter of a mile.
I used it and it returned a location for my phone which was my office building. I drove back to my office but didnt find my phone. It turned out that I must have dropped it in the parking lot and one of my co-workers found it. About an hour after I got back home, my co-worker, since my phone wasnt locked with a pass code (shame on me), he was able to determine it was mine and sent me an email to both my home and work email addresses and he got it back to me the next day at work, he had found it in the parking lot next to where my car had been parked and thankfully it hadnt gotten run over. Phew!
I now have a smart phone, a Samsung Galaxy S4 and it came with many apps pre-installed including a find my phone app called Lookout. The app enables you to not only locate your phone but also lock it remotely and send a sound, a loud scream, to help you locate it, even if the sound on the phone is set to silent mode. With a premium subscription (at $ 2.99 per month) it can even send you an email with a picture and location of anyone who incorrectly enters the passcode on your device three times and allows you to remotely lock your device, and also wipe all data from it and have it backed up to the cloud and allow you to restore it once the phone is found or a replacement phone is activated.
I believe that iPhones and other smart phones also come with that sort of app pre-installed. She might have such an app installed on her phone and isnt aware of it or hasnt activated it or knows how to use it.
As others have suggested, while I understand that prayers are appreciated, neither you nor she should sit around waiting for an answer or help from God (and God helps those who first tries to help themselves right?) but she should contact her cellular provider ASAP! They may be able to help her locate it or lock it remotely and most importantly suspend the service on the phone in case someone picked it up and is making calls on it or trying to sell it, and help her get a replacement.
FWIW, in October of 2013 I traveled to the UK for work, my first overseas trip. Although I was traveling with my work laptop, I was pretty paranoid about the thought of losing my phone. Or for that matter my credit cards and passport. And while in England they sort of speak the same language we do, in the North Yorkshire, youd be quite hard pressed to know that. : ),
Before I left I made a photo copy of my passport and airline tickets and created a Word document with all my personal emergency contact numbers and phone numbers for my cell provider and credit card companies (and I set to memorizing my CC numbers so I didnt have to write them down anywhere), the phone number of the hotel I was staying at, etc. I even laminated two small cards containing these phone numbers and put one set in my luggage and one in a zippered compartment in my purse, not in my wallet just in case that got lost or stolen. Yea, Im a little OCD, a bit Sheldon Cooper like in some regards, but I dont see that as a bad thing being prepared in advance for any and all circumstances is not being paranoid but just being prepared.
With that being said, I hope all works out well for your daughter on her trip overseas and that you can rest easy and please let us know how it works out. Losing a cell phone while traveling overseas or anywhere for that matter is a big deal but it is not the end of the world if one is smart about it and takes the appropriate actions.
I will pray that she finds her phone and for her larger issues, as well.
