Paul studied biology (and English) at Baylor, but he didnt earn a degree. Theres no excuse for resume-inflation, even when its jocular. We cant quite say this is worthy of Four Pinocchios, but the senator should be more careful in the future.

How someone could think you need to have a specific biology or chemistry degree to get into medical school is beyond me. People get accepted with Math degrees. If you want your doctors to have biology degrees then you might have to start your own medical school.
"YES he does"
I have an econ degree which means I know just enough not to understand any of what our government is [inaudible]
Paul: Mines in biology and English so this is going to be a great conversation.
He shouldn't be describing his degree that he doesn't have.
He earned a medical degree and studied for a biology degree to the extent that a top 5 medical school took him into their med. program. While he did not get the paper. He was odds on favorite to be the most knowledgeable student in his biology honors class.
You get that there are lots of people out there who get doctorates without high school, B.S or masters degrees. They just pass through it when the higher programs accept them early.
I know a girl who was accepted into University of Washington Math program at 15. She started her B.S. but 4 years later she got her PhD instead, never getting any earlier degree.
There is a track for the smart. And then there is a track for the genius. If Rand wanted to get a wall of degrees he could easily have them. The schools probably have already given him a few honorary doctorates already.
“Meanwhile....choom-gang is in the freakin White House.”
Exactly. Anytime a reporter questions a Republican on their college career, the answer should be: “I’ll get right back to you on that, as soon as you get Obama’s transcripts released”.
An M.D. is a professional doctorate, as opposed to a Ph.D., which is an academic doctorate. The M.D. involves the professional application of the science involved to cases. The science, in this case, is physiology, a branch of biology. The M.D. IS a biology degree.
Somebody else pointed out that an Engineering Degree is a math degree. Correct. An applied math degree.
The following is from the first paragraph of the wikipedia entry:
[The M.D. is} a terminal degree for physicians and surgeons. In some countries it is a professional doctorate where training is entered after obtaining between 90 and 120 credit hours of university level work
True, failed to note that in my last post. And he does not even make a good libertarian.
The WaPo provides yet anther fine example of alinsky agitprop. It’s purpose being to preemptivly destroy every non-rino potential republican candidate.
I might ask, by the way, how the MSM can get school records of republican candidates... especially as no one is yet an official candidate. Never mind the fact it is illegal to provide transcript data unless the person authorizes its release. How did the WaPo get the info?
Nice to see the WP can actually do research now that there are Repubs in the game. He is apparently not Marxist enough for their endorsement.
Pray America is waking
The information is on his wiki read up the thread.
This is true leftist game-playing. Taking the trivial to sew doubt, particularly in rigid conservatives.
The man was taking a bio degree, and was in honors, which means he completed at a high level, his courses and was matriculated early into med school. Med schools and other programs will sometimes take promising students at the end of JR year. He didn’t lie, he had essentially a bio degree but did not finish the paperwork.
I have a minor in philosophy but never bothered to fill out the paperwork. Course work was all done, didn’t bother. I say I minored in it to covey that I have a working knowledge of philosophy, in conversation, not because I want to lie or impress.
You don’t go on television telling people that you have a degree that you don’t, while making that claim to win televised arguments, and while being there as representing republicans and then embarrassing them.
You dont go on television telling people that you have a degree that you dont, while making that claim to win televised arguments, and while being there as representing republicans and then embarrassing them.
_______________
The only embarrassment are the drama queen conservatives who are reacting to these leftist alinsky tactics.
The correct answer is so what? He was let into med school early. and ignore the leftists.
As with so many of his statements, Paul is an embarrassment to himself and the oddballs that support him.
He shouldn’t be claiming a degree that he doesn’t have.
We would all love to know what Barack Obama studied in college but unfortunately his records are all sealed.
Every single piece of information published by the WaPo about Paul can be found via Google going back years.
Nope. That would be you by echoing the MSM's meme!
Didn't he win the popular vote, too?
It is unfair to give Senator Paul 3 Pinocchios because a M.D. Degree is the study of biomedical sciences according to the Duke University School of Medicine. In other words, a M.D. is a biology degree. Merriam-Webster defines biology as a branch of knowledge that deals with living organisms and vital processes. Dr. Paul never said he had an undergraduate degree in biology, and it is accurate for him to say that he has a biology degree. You are making inferences from his statement that are unwarranted. It is common knowledge that the study of medicine is the study of human biology, and a MD has a doctorate degree in one area of study of the science of biology.
IOW, instead of just saying, “I have an MD”, he was implying something else.

> In 1995, Paul passed the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) boards on his first attempt and earned board-certification under the ABO for 10Â years. In 1997, to protest the ABO’s 1992Â decision to grandfather in older ophthalmologists and not require them to be recertified every 10Â years in order to maintain their status as board-certified practitioners, Paul, along with 200 other ophthalmologists, formed the National Board of Ophthalmology (NBO) to offer an alternative ophthalmology certification system. The NBO was incorporated in 1999, but he allowed it to be dissolved in 2000Â after not filing the required paperwork with the Kentucky Secretary of State’s office. Paul later recreated the board in September 2005, three months before his original 10-year certification from the ABO lapsed. His ABO certification lapsed on December 31, 2005. Paul has since been certified by the NBO, with himself as the organization’s president, his wife as vice-president, and his father-in-law as secretary. The ophthalmology board is not officially recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). The NBO was again dissolved on September 10, 2011.
