The audience for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus speech to Congress on March 3 is shaping up to be largely Republican and almost completely white.
Many members of the Congressional Black Caucus say theyre planning to skip the speech, calling it a slight to President Barack Obama that they cant and wont support.
Israeli officials have been caught by surprise by the CBC backlash, kicked off by Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a civil rights leader who said last week he wouldnt attend, quickly followed by Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) and others. As a result, theyre working to set up a meeting for CBC members with Ambassador Ron Dermer or even Netanyahu himself when hes in Washington.
To me, it is somewhat of an insult to the president of the United States, said Rep. Greg Meeks (D-N.Y.), leaving the White House on Tuesday after a long meeting with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, whos skipping the speech himself. Barack Obama is my president, hes the nations president, and it is clear therefore that Im not going to be there, as a result of that, not as a result of the good people of Israel.
Netanyahus speech to Congress, scheduled just two weeks before Israeli national elections, is aimed at stopping a deal with Iran over its nuclear weapons program a diplomatic opening Obama administration officials believe could reintegrate Iran into the international community and enhance Israels security. Netanyahu, however, feels the United States and its international partners are being naive about Irans true intent.
Im determined to speak before Congress to stop Iran, Netanyahu tweeted on Tuesday.

“I guess the IWON cannot handle the truth except by avoiding it.”
IWON’s existence is light years beyond the truth. It’s almost
impossible to name one thing that you can be absolutely positive
about. Is he black or white? Is he a citizen? Is his name
really Barack Obama? Is he homo, hetero or both? Does he
really have a college degree and if so was it earned or honorary?
The list goes on and on. He’s the true living fraud. But
even that is questionable because he draws flies like a corpse.
Who gives a sh!t what these black lawmakers think? They are part of the problem.
Obama has disrespected Israel for more than eight years.
Netanyahu is fighting for the survival of a nation, a religion - a people.
and it is interesting that Jews, both in America and in Israel have, as a group, been the biggest supporter of American blacks throughout the modern era.
To Black Lawmakers,
Shove it up your collective Obamaholes.
Do it now.
Do it again.
And again.
What’s the position of the Congressional Caucasian Caucus ? I haven’t heard.
I think we’re all mad...NO we’re past being mad, but I would suggest refraining from using racial slurs on this forum as it reflects an attitude that the left thinks of us, ie that anytime we disagree with Obama it’s racial, even though everything he does is racially motivated. He’s the one who ask the CBC to boycott.
This should be a good first test...I believe that Congresswoman Mia Love, a conservative and also a brand new member of the CBC. Will she attend?
I agree with Old Sarge, that Mia’s FIRST test was her vote for Bonehead as Speaker. Very disappointing first test.
Her office did confirm that she did join the Congressional Black Caucus, but they do not know (as of today) if she will be attending Netanyahu’s speech to the House. (I expressed disappointment in this, as well....she SHOULD be saying an emphatic YES, that she’ll attend.)
I know, or know of, a bucket load of smart, intelligent, decent blacks that I would be proud to call friend.
Not one black lawmaker is among them, at least that I know of. But I don’t know everything. Somebody help me out.
There is nothing more important than race for these guys.
It’s just as well that the CBC not show up to hear what Netanyahu has to say. They only have eyes and ears for the jug-eared imposter. Nothing said by a rational, reasonable person would penetrate the density of their crania. The CBC never misses an opportunity to show their collective ignorance and racist tendencies.
That also explains why out of all the Black officeholders in the entire country, not one (other than despised "uncle toms") opposes these abominations.
It was not intended to be a slur. It was intended to accurately note the function for which those people were being used. Of course Obama asked the CBC to boycott - because he views them as being his property. He can tell what to do when he needs to have his face saved, and of course they will do as they are told. It is HE who is denigrating those people - and he knows he can do it because of the color of their skin, which is the most pathetic racist crap around.
I do not view any of those people as slaves or as fit to be slaves. I simply note that there is a slave-master relationship between them and Obama. And I personally think it’s incredibly sad.
just tell the truth about Obama’s hidden past
LOL. It’s what I say every time I hear dear leader either on the boob tube or the radidio....
Dear black lawmakers - Why aren’t you offended by the promiscuity/ infanticide in your black community? Why aren’t you offended by the criminals who terrorize the innocent folks in your black community? Why aren’t you offended by the single moms and children raised by children in your community? But Netanyahu speaking the Truth offends you? Might step back and take a good look at yourselves.
You BOTH are correct. I had forgot about that Boehner vote. If she boycotts Netanyahu’s speech to show solidarity with the CBC, I will write her off as a huge disappointment. I hope my former Utah neighbors will as well.
I am so tired of these racists. Black this, black that. Gimme this, gimme that. Nothing but dividers, troublemakers, complainers, and whiners.
This is not about the attainment of "civil rights". But to them, everything is always about them and the denial of the same civil rights and opportunities the rest of Americans enjoy. All I see is a bunch of "civil rights leaders" trying to justify a president that has done more to destroy this nation than all our enemies combined.
If it were Nelson Mandela, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, or even Adolf Hitler coming to speak before Congress, they would be on board in a minute to give their support. If you don't agree with the Black Caucus, I urge you to call your White Congressional Caucus members and express your disapproval. What, you say, is a White Congressional Caucus?
What these bigots mean to say is “Show some respect and die as you’re told, Jew boy”.
