The audience for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus speech to Congress on March 3 is shaping up to be largely Republican and almost completely white.
Many members of the Congressional Black Caucus say theyre planning to skip the speech, calling it a slight to President Barack Obama that they cant and wont support.
Israeli officials have been caught by surprise by the CBC backlash, kicked off by Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a civil rights leader who said last week he wouldnt attend, quickly followed by Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) and others. As a result, theyre working to set up a meeting for CBC members with Ambassador Ron Dermer or even Netanyahu himself when hes in Washington.
To me, it is somewhat of an insult to the president of the United States, said Rep. Greg Meeks (D-N.Y.), leaving the White House on Tuesday after a long meeting with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, whos skipping the speech himself. Barack Obama is my president, hes the nations president, and it is clear therefore that Im not going to be there, as a result of that, not as a result of the good people of Israel.
Netanyahus speech to Congress, scheduled just two weeks before Israeli national elections, is aimed at stopping a deal with Iran over its nuclear weapons program a diplomatic opening Obama administration officials believe could reintegrate Iran into the international community and enhance Israels security. Netanyahu, however, feels the United States and its international partners are being naive about Irans true intent.
Im determined to speak before Congress to stop Iran, Netanyahu tweeted on Tuesday.

The administration can put Al Sharpton in charge of the reaction to the address.
“Dear black lawmakers:
STFU.”
Agreed. If the imposter in the white house showed respect for ANYBODY outside of his personal little realm, maybe he would get more respect himself. As it is, he has shown nothing but antagonism and hostility to Israel Netanyahu.
Well, the CBC’s faux outrage is nothing but perpetuating the lie that the WH was not first informed of Bibi’s visit before he accepted; it was notified, but the Obama operatives, always looking for a political advantage, chose not to respond to Bibi’s request. So, when he hadn’t heard back, only THEN did he decide to accept the House’s invitation to speak. It was all BS politics from this WH from the get-go, and it’s a damned shame that the CBC is helping this president perpetuate the lie, simply because of the color of his skin.

> Mygosh, isnt the administration working its mischief to get the opposition elected in Israel?
Yep. And its connected to Soros too. That’s all I need to know...
Mia Love’s first test was her vote in support of Boehner as Speaker.
FOAD, you useless oxygen thieves.
What’s he saying? I can’t hear anything!
;)
And I would further add that this is yet another way in which this president is undermining Israeli security in an attempt to craft some sort of foreign policy legacy.
Can’t blame Israel’s leader for doing all he can to protect his own country. It is disturbing and disgusting to see members of Congress who ideologically side with Obama use race as cover for their own anti-semitism.
I can hear my late mother now—
“Respect has to be earned”
.
Oops. Meant to say Israel and Netanyahu.
Note to self: PLEASE proofread before hitting “Post.”
Honestly, who cares about these “folks”?

So Rep. Greg Meeks (Typical D-N.Y.) is going to be the biggest
ass he can be and totally disrespect Netanyahu in the name
of the Obama and then demands Netanyahu not disrespect the
little creep. Yep. That’s a tard for ya.
First-Last-Only black president we will ever have. Good job!
Bibi could come two weeks later after hIs reelection and all would attend. If he also wants to speak to AIPAC, he can make two trips.
