Tuesday at the White House press briefing, press secretary Josh Earnest doubled down on President Barack Obamas comments last week at the National Prayer Breakfast, when he said, Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember during Crusades and Inquisition people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. In our home country slavery and Jim Crow was all to often justified in the name of Christ.

They love this.
They are talking to and for their base who hate Christians and the US.
They always land on S**T
710 days--roughly equivalent to the period between Super Bowl XLVII and today.
They burned a guy alive in a cage and we’re not supposed to be outraged by it because other people in other times did bad things too? Our government is filled with kindergartners. Stupid ones.
Do you really think them saying it means they believe it????
Sorta like how the U.S. evolved from those barbaric days when Americans committed atrocities against the Nazis. Atrocities committed in the name of Freedom. Yeah!
Fighting against evil death cults is exactly like BEING an evil death cult. Good ol' moral equivocation.

He DID blurt it out in an interview, the interviewer (forgot who it was) corrected him telling him that he is Christian.
George Steponofulgus, the old Clinton hack.
No more Muslim presidents should be the takeaway here.
That would be George somthingorotherupolos!
I didn’t know that the United States was involved in the Crusades. Actually, I kinda think that was unique to another place- a place overrun with muslim invaders. So I will just stay on my high horse. Thank you very much.
sis you mean to say “Neatly” instead of “nearly”.
he did say My Muslim Faith,...before being corrected as I remember.
the OUR RELIGION remark...only fortified his already clear islamic Declaration
If I recall, the Catholic Church murdered a lot of people who refused to accept their branch of Christian belief.

I really do not want to wish my life away, but Freepers, we’ve got work to do. We need to evaluate our candidates, work for a true conservative candidate for POTUS, then unite, UNITE!
Yes, we can do it! With the grace of God, it will not be too late.
” The Crusades were for a great cause. They were trying to rescue areas converted to Islam by the sword.”
If anything they were defensive actions trying to keep the muslims from gobbling up even more of the Christian lands.
False. The Catholic Church has never had an army. They never deliberately murdered lot people. That is not to deny that some people who were Christians (before the Reformation) acted horrifically supposedly to stop so-called heresies. And, while this did happen, it was no where near the numbers that I think some folks here are claiming.
In medieval days there were lots of noblemen who had big estates and titles. Throughout the last 2000 years, various religious beliefs cropped up, and these noblemen, who were part of what was then the ‘universal Christian church’ would feel threatened by these new ideas. Politics and religion were one and the same. So, what I am saying is that often these atrocities were carried out by mercenaries who were under the orders of the noblemen. Unfortunately in many instances the church became complicit.
As to the numbers, by far the most oppressed group were the Jews. For two thousand years, they have been the population which has been targeted by other groups, first by Christians and Muslims, then by communists and fascists, and now by intellectual atheists and Muslims again.
Once the reformation came about the political powers were diminished, and although priests were hunted down and murdered by Oliver Cromwell, and Huegenots were oppressed in France, there was noting on the scale of earlier centuries.
But religious oppression of Catholic priests was going on during the reign of Napoleon, the early years of Bismarck’s 2nd German Reich, the Spanish Civil War in the 1930’s (atheistic Communists were murdering nuns and priests in Spain), and the Nazis murdering about 1500 priests.
Unfortunately mankind has not learned much. Which brings me back to the dopey President. He has not learned anything at all.
