Jeb Bush, a rumored 2016 Republican presidential candidate, just decided to publish hundreds of thousands of emails sent to him during his time as governor of Florida. On its face it seems like a great idea in the name of transparency, but there's one huge problem: neither Bush nor those who facilitated the publication of the records, including the state government, decided to redact potentially sensitive personal information from them.
"In the spirit of transparency, I am posting the emails of my governorship here," a note on Bush's website says. "Some are funny; some are serious; some I wrote in frustration." Some also contain the email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers, and social security numbers of Florida residents. The emails are available in Outlook format, and can be searched on the web at Bush's website.

“OMG - hes an idiot.
Cue the Jim Neighbors photo with caption, Surprise, Surprise, Surprise.
Its bad enough that he is an idiot.
Its much, much worse that he does not realize that he is an idiot.”
Jeb G.P. Bush. Gomer Pyle fer sure.
But Gomer was likable. And kind.
Not that nasty piece of work, Jebbie.
C’est merde.
“Pass the reefer, bro’.”
YUP! Just as long as the old man pays the tuition bill.
I noted at the bottom of one of the emails:
“Please note: Florida has a very broad public records law. Most written communications to or from state officials regarding state business are public records available to the public and media upon request. Your e-mail communications may therefore be subject to public disclosure.”
There might be. There’s plenty of emails asking him to save her.
I may be in there somewhere too.
I can’t download the “.pst” files anymore, but you can still look at the individual dates. The email address are not blocked out nor the names.
Terri died on March 31, 2005.
If you know what date you wrote it, you can search for it.

Jeb has probably put some of the people involved in the Zimmerman trial at risk.
Didn’t he appoint the lifelong Democrat judge to the court? The judge may as well have been part of the prosecution but the Trayvon Martin supporters will probably still blame her.
dumb shitte
Why would people e-mail him their Social Security numbers?
From your keyboard to God’s ears!
Indeed this screw up alone might sink any bid for the presidency.
There are a lot of idiots in the world, their being an idiot or not knowing just how dangerous and inherently insecure Email is doesn’t justify Jeb and his staff’s irresponsibility with that information.
given the rather current focus on Privacy...particularly internet privacy...Id say this was about the most negative stunt anyone could have allowed....
Agreed - absolutely foolish of Jeb to do this.
However, I’d like to caution any FReeper from downloading any of his emails specifically since no one here should want to violate PII (personal indentification information) or PHI (personal health information) data privacy laws.
Be blameless just in case investigation broadens, and puts FR reputation and members at risk.
by habit I stay away from anything that could conceivably put me at risk...as far as I know....
Who is this nephew of Jebs that you refer to?
They'll meaning the Bush dynasty....George W's nephew...Jeds kid..You know, another of the Bush dynasty.
In case you're still confused, this guy above....
Ya mean the one who all but made American citizenship all but pointless? How many millions entered illegally from God knows where during his presidency? 10,000,000? More?
During war time yet.
Ping.
You won’t believe this.
What scrambled his thinking process? Is substance abuse involved in Jeb’s poor judgment?
Thanks, Maggie.
