COLUMBUS, Ohio - A central Ohio pro-life group is seeking restitution after a man damaged its signs at a demonstration.
The attack on the signs happened Wednesday afternoon outside Beechcroft High School as school was letting out for the day. A group called Created Equal was staging a demonstration with signs displaying graphic images of aborted fetuses. The group members were on the sidewalk in front of the school when a man who lives across the street approached them.
Get them off or I'll take them, the man could be heard yelling on video shot by Created Equal. The video shows the man growing increasingly angry with the pro-life demonstration until he starts damaging the signs.
"He took this one .and ripped it in half, said Jami Beer, Created Equal's Director of Campus Outreach.
10TV spoke with the man, who is not being identified because he has not been charged with a crime. He says he is neither pro-life nor pro-choice - he just thinks the demonstration is inappropriate. The man says he is willing to cover the cost of the damage.
Beer says her group stages demonstrations outside central Ohio high schools a couple of times a week. She says the graphic images they use drive home the reality of abortion. "We were just reaching out to the students there, informing them of what abortion looks like--the aftermath of abortion, Beer said. "There's no way you can put a pretty bow on it. That's what happens and a lot of students don't know."
Encounters like the one Wednesday are not anything new for the group.

I do admit destroying a sign when I went with my DIL and GD to a pro-life demonstration at which my arch-bishop was speaking. We had the permit. This b*tch had the sign which used graphic and sexual language. One of the supposedly Catholic persons in the crowd told me that the woman had the right to free speech. I said not in front of my granddaughter and the archbishop when she did not have a permit but we did. Later the police came around but I was sitting down with my friends and family under an umbrella and no one pointed me out. It was plus 100 degrees that day. Arrgggg. That having been said, I guess I have reservations about graphic photos of aborted babies being shown regularly in front of a high school. I agree with their cause but question their message.
I agree. Many tactics of our side are counter-productive. At church today the preacher emphasized how sometimes Jesu gradually led people to believe, one step at a time.
Some on our side seem to believe that getting others to make one step at a time in our direction is evil. That the only good tactic is to hit them over the head and try for a hole-in-one.
Where Was School Security? Where were any School Adults? Where were the School Jocks?
Any or all of them could have told the man to leave and given him proper motivation to leave.
Pro-Life Group Has Signs Damaged...
How much did they pay to have them damaged? Or did they find volunteers?
Maybe “Signs used by pro-life group damaged...” might be a better headline. But I suppose it was important to lead the sentence with “Pro-Life”.
They could prevent much of the violence with some odd psychology. A telephone camera is subtle, and should still be used to record them, but someone else should bring a few disposable film cameras, expressly because they give bright flashes. Flashes tend to grab the attention.
Another trick is a compressed air horn. It really startles and in-your-face screamer. And then of course there is a canister of pepper spray, depending on local and state laws.
And several people should have concealed carry.
Maybe. It depends on what they're trying to achieve. Obviously, showing pictures of aborted babies is not making adults like these people. However, it's possible that it's making high school girls less likely to abort their babies, which I think is their point.
It’s not on school grounds. It’s on a public sidewalk in front of the school as the children leave.
Too bad a parent didn’t confront him then.
Yeah....a dead fetus is hardly recognizable....but a dead baby????, now that's going too far (same person by the way)..
