Brian Williams is stepping away from NBC Nightly News for several days.
The anchor sent a note to the show's staff, announcing that Lester Holt is replacing him this week. The news comes as the anchor is embroiled in a scandal surrounding his story about being a passenger in a helicopter that took fire in the Iraq War.
Williams' message can be seen, below.
"In the midst of a career spent covering and consuming news, it has become painfully apparent to me that I am presently too much a part of the news, due to my actions.
"As Managing Editor of NBC Nightly News, I have decided to take myself off of my daily broadcast for the next several days, and Lester Holt has kindly agreed to sit in for me to allow us to adequately deal with this issue. Upon my return, I will continue my career-long effort to be worthy of the trust of those who place their trust in us."
More to come...

Because it is parody, there is a lot of latitude. Williams is a ‘public figure’

How about a full resignation and going into exile in Brazil or somewhere? How about a million hours of community service in the barrios of LA.

He’s claiming he has become too much of the news..
Poor kid.
Isn’t that what the news is all about these days.. Personalities reporting and injecting their angles..
In place of things like facts or truths?
Is there still such a thing as a journalistic oath..
Or is it just a pledge kind of thingy?

I would Rather not see him leave. Now the Network News fans will think that NBC has its house in order and will have honest sober anchormen again. After all they seem to have taken care of the problem when their heads were yanked around to look at it. But The News will be not one whit more reliable than it was. It will continue to be Left propaganda and fantasy.
