Writing for the Baltimore Sun, media journalist David Zurawik called for Brian Williams to resign or to be fired by Friday. If credibility means anything to NBC News, Brian Williams will no longer be managing editor and anchor of the evening newscast by the end of the day Friday, Zurawik writes.
Wednesday evening, after being caught lying, the Nightly News anchor admitted that for the last 12 years he has repeatedly lied about being shot down in a helicopter over Iraq.

I’m not sure this is quite as bad as is being portrayed, depending on what he actually said. I just read an interview witht he pilot of the chopper the reporter was on. The pilot said that their formation did come under small arms and RPG fire, and that their helicopter was in fact struck by small arms fire, but not RPG. The reporter was in the back, and could not see what was going on, and could have honestly believed that they were struck by RPG fire. Another helicopter in the formation was struck by an RPG and had to land prematurely, but the helo the reporter was on ALSO pulled out of formation to land, not because of being hit, but to drop off bridge parts they were slingloading, which again the reporter may not have known. So although unlikely, he could have misunderstood what happened.

How about just the ones who get caught?

Better run that show in early Prime Time so that Clinton's girlfriends can watch it before their bedtimes.

He’s the perfect “face” for NBC news, an admitted LIAR with a liberal bias.

There was a time, a time before cable. When the local anchorman reigned supreme. When people believed everything they heard on TV. This was an age when only men were allowed to read the news. And in New York, one anchorman was more man then the rest. His name was Brian Williams. He was like a god walking amongst mere mortals. He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. In other words, Brian Williams was the balls.
Stay classy NBC.

I suspect Williams will stay on the air. He’s a good salesman. He’s great at selling the line the MSM wants sold.
True, his regular audience has dwindled, but there are many elderly people (for example) who rely on the MSM for their news, and don’t understand the first thing about the internet and alternate news sources. These same people have trusted the MSM for decades, and are generally too old to change.
Problem is, most of them vote.

Pffftt... The corrupt MSM will circle the wagons around Williams. That includes Bill O'Reilly who last night talked about it but basically said that he could understand Williams' small error in how he recalled the incident.
To: Zakeet
This article from CNN has an interview with the pilot of Williams' helicopter; the pilot largely confirms his story. His helicopter was hit by small arms fire (but not RPG), but Williams (or crew for that matter) was not in a position to observe this. I think this is why the crew's account differs. I've flown in the CH47 a time or two, and you can't really tell what is going on from the back. We hit a power line once in Korea which prompted a forced landing; I could see that the pilot was hotdogging to scare the noobs, but couldn't see well enough to know exactly what happened to cause us to go down.
